leahday.com/blogs/machinequil... Learn how to load your rolling rail quilting frame for quilting with pantographs! Because we're quilting from the back of the longarm with our eyes down on the quilt, we need to load the quilt a little differently to avoid pleats.

Thanks for dowel tip ! And I have been a pin baster, will definitely let my longarm do the job now that I see it done. Thanks again💐

You're super welcome! Baste stitching takes a little practice, but it's definitely faster than pinning. Make sure to use your channel locks!

This is helpful in keeping things straight and squared up.

Yes, indeed. I use this for special quilts too, where I want to be sure the blocks are lined up square and rows straight. It works great!

Great video! I'm getting ready to load a quilt onto my Grace rolling rail quilting frame. Since it's been a few months since I did this I thought it wise to watch your new video. I'm sure glad I did because your demonstration of "bouncy tight" helped me see that I'm cranking my quilt sandwich too tight! Thanks!

Awesome! I'm so happy to help. Yep, it's easy to get out of practice and forget a few steps, or fall back into old habits. I used to crank my quilts way too tight and get skipped stitches, needle breaks, and raisin looking quilts! LOL!

Leah, I don't have any of this equipment. But I do have your walking foot book and it is wonderful. I know it's not relevant to this video but I really wanted to comment on something recent and tell you how much I love it. Thank you.

That is wonderful to hear! I do see comments on older videos too, so if you decide to post on the walking foot videos, I will definitely see that too.

I currently only baste the top of my quilt. Can you talk more about the basting across the centre of the quilt. Will there be marks on the quilt after removing the basting stitches?

Can you please tell me about the panto that you’re using? I think it’s really pretty. Thank you.

Leah, could you please show us how to set up our laser for pantagraph quilting? I have a grace laser (the blue one) and I am not positive where to mount it on my machine so I can "laser trace" my pantograph. Could you please talk us through where we should be mounting our laser and how to ensure our laser is referencing where our needle is. Basically, pantograpgh set up for dummies? This setup is totally new to me and I am dieing to do it on my Cutie frame (I am sure that the process is the same on a quilting frame or close to it). Is the blue Grace laser a good one to use or is there a better one we ahould be using? Any tips would bs greatly appreciated. TYIA.

Unfortunately I don't have a Cutie frame to demo on, and the attachment is different for a Hoop Frame. I would reach out to Grace Company directly and ask them to make this video. They do weekly live streams and I'm sure Karla could work this in for you!

I'm trying to figure out how or what you have on the sides to attach the side clamps. It looks like it would much better than just the side clamps alone but I can't figure out what you did. It looks like pieces of red snappers but you have fabric,elastic? attached to the red thing. Could you explain, please.

If you watch all the way through, I do share a bit about the side clamps. For more detail on this, please watch this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rImxp4yioqeFjas

If you have a panel with a picture, like a pumpkin, and loaded it horizontal, what type of pantograph would you recommend? I only have my domestic machine on a Grace 8ft frame
@LeahDay
@LeahDay Ай бұрын
Ideally if you wanted to quilt the pumpkin, I'd quilt the outline of it carefully with free motion quilting rather than using a pantograph. If you really want to stitch over it, then any design will work, just understand it will be a texture overlapping your design and your thread will show where it contrasts.

@@LeahDay I don’t want to outline the pumpkin. Although, that’s a thought, I’m not that good. I was wondering what easy quilting design I could use that would look okay regardless of how it’s loaded. I don’t really like meandering. Thank you
