I use this now. I use allulose quite a bit because I have family members and friends who like me are sugar addicts. I make sure I provide things sweetened with allulose so they get something healthy since unlike me they will not commit to a low carb/carnivore diet. By showing them they don't have to give up sweets to be healthy it hopefully will get them to the next step of changing their diet completely. The one that has benefitted the most is my mother since I now take care of her. She eats what I cook and at 81, 82 in November, she is doing much better. I even make foods sometimes to feed family members or friends that are more keto than carnivore but they are always very low carb and extremely tasty. I make things like chicken fried chicken with a cream gravy but that is definitely carnivore the way I make it. A better example is meatball casserole. It's extremely Italian tasting but uses a low carb marinara with cheeses and Italian spices. My usual response is how they can't believe how good it tastes to be low carb. I'm just doing what I can.

At 9:42, Nick's discussion of pairing a brownie laced with a certain substance with a CGM reminded me of Frasier episode 11.11, where Niles Crane thought that after eating a brownie laced with a different substance, he could be so bold as to pair Chilean sea bass with an aggressive Zinfandel.

I am wary of all these rare but natural sugars, including allulose which I have tried, because of the horrible GI distress; just because we don’t digest them doesn’t mean gut microbes don’t. Trehalose, for example, feeds c. diff. So many people get GI upset from allulose (even if it’s less than other sugars) that I feel like people are hyping it prematurely.

Interesting question... there's some thought that it might increase mitochondrial uncoupling to increase thermogenesis. Indeed some interesting potential effects (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35221861/), although I haven't seen a UCP evaluation. Also in displacing fructose from the diet, it could be indirectly beneficial for mitochondria. see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3-YpX1raLyEbqc

My only intake of sweeteners is the occasional protein bar and protein powder. Unfortunately in Australia all the good tasting whey and casein use sucralose. I would happily pay more if they used allulose. A good education program around CGM is also required. The issue I find is people are so focus on spikes (even those that are small and considered normal for those without type 2 diabetes) and ignore A1C. The total time spent above baseline is more important than anything else.

I've been using allulose in my morning coffee for awhile now, and I find that it reduces my hunger for several hours. I have a question, though. If allulose reduces blood glucose even if it's already elevated and reduces insulin, where does that glucose go? Without the insulin to store it, is it just getting filtered by the kidneys? Does the liver store it in liver fat? It can't just disappear, right?

There are no studies that identified allulose as a possible carcinogen. It is not allowed to be used as an ingredient in commercial goods in the EU because it is a novel food and is deemed to require more research as to its longer term effects. You can still purchase allulose online and have it delivered to your EU address. I'm unsure if you can purchase it in stores.

It's not a carcinogen. That's just a bad rumor. I actually did quite a deep dive into approvals, including things like the German Federal Institutes Risk (BfR) assessment. Aack - not you too! Is this a camera thing (like on an iPhone?), or KZbin, or other video processing software? As you're speaking, if there is a couple dozen milliseconds (it seems .. maybe it has to hit 100ms), it does these micro-cuts of the video. The audio sounds okay (probably because it's detecting dead-space), but your face jumps position quite frequently. I don't mind a little bit of an audio break between sentences and these micro cuts are super annoying!

I told my editor this. I agree. Because of animation timing I didn’t demand he go back and adjust everything but I was very clear my audience and I aren’t a fan of the little cuts

@@sonrog8877 Allulose is about 70% as sweet than sugar so you will need to add about a quarter to a third more of it to make it as sweet as table sugar. You can get it blended with monkfruit that you can use as a straight like for like substitute. If you are a super taster (like me) it will taste different to sugar. I like it well enough in something like homemade ice cream but don't like it if I was using it to make a chocolate sauce.

I started keto a bit over 4 months ago and when people said that after a few weeks sugar cravings would disappear, or at the very least lessen... well it ain't true for me, god dammit. Anyway, it looks like Rx doesn't ship to Croatia so I was wondering if you by any chance know of any place I could get allulose in Europe? Asking for a friend.
