firstly Gonzalo thank you for the visit. unfortunately not you need steel and a decent (heavy) cap when shooting with a blowgun speed is important but the weight behind the dart that is what has the stopping power. i had a "lighter" blowgun when i started but i never killed anything with it. i hope this answers your question? feel free to drop me a message if you want any more advice.

the creator of this video doesn't understand ballistics and aerodynamic principles in this context. yes paper can be just as accurate but not so durable. velocity will tend to be higher the lighter the dart, all else equal...not to say all else must be equal. < that is a hint. ( no offense to the creator of this video. I'll gladly discuss }

@Jim S. if you go look at another video he used a tough plastic bag and melted it and then he put a piece of it in and made the cone but in this video he is using lead

I use 3 lenths... 0.5m, 1.2m, and a 1.6m but I favor the 1.6m more than the others

That is a very good question I did have a idea of going that way. But I could never get the same accuracy... I think every person who uses a blowgun will have his/her own preferred methods. When I travel I always take a rifle and a blowgun. That is what is brilliant about the 1.6 it fits into any of the cars we have with ease... and it is long enough to get a full 30cm (11.8inches) into flesh. If I did more flying I would need one that folded but as it is it may even be cheaper to buy a pipe wherever you fly to 2m of aluminum extruded pipe is R200 I see cold steel sell there pipes for R2400... for a blowgun??? MADNESS

@@huntingforhearts Cold style blowguns are without a doubt overpriced - here in Europe, you can buy a two piece blowgun for 50 euros (which are 1000 rands). But on the other hand, they are well made - they are perfectly straight when assembled. The secret is in the thread between the two parts. They fit perfectly together. You have a lathe and skills - I believe you can make the same quality blowgun. These blowguns have another secret two - the mouthpiece, which holds the dart until pressure builds up, which accelerates the dart significantly. About their darts - I have bought darts three times - three different caps sizes. Those who came with the pipe were almost unusable.
