My Homemade Breadcrumbs recipe is as easy as you think it is, but a step-by-step guide is helpful to get the perfect results! Making your own homemade breadcrumbs may seem like an unnecessary task, seeing as how you can pick up a canister of them at every grocery store, but making breadcrumbs from scratch is so easy!
📌 Full Written Recipe: bit.ly/MakeBreadcrumbs
I love to use these breadcrumbs around the holidays for stuffing, but they also go great in some of my Irish puddings, sausage rolls, and traditional Christmas desserts!

Gemma, yesterday I found out that I was really allergic to gluten, and I thought that I couldn't make any more of you amazingly-wonderful recipes but of course, I was badly mistaken... I just tried out your old oat pancake video, and I realized that I didn't have bananas, so I mixed up some of your different recipes most the tekniques that you taut me and I made up a new recipe; ❥one cup of oat flour ❥a tablespoon of melted butter ❥one egg ❥a teaspoon of baking powder ❥half a cup of water or milk (add milk for a richer flavor) ❥a tablespoon of milk ❥1/4 a teaspoon of vinnila extract, of vinnila powder ❥pinch of salt ❥1 1/2 teaspoon powdered sugar ❥1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder ~~sprinkle on some powdered sugar and powdered cinnamon, the top it off with maply syrup, or - my favorite - honey~~ Gemma, you don't know how happy was when I found out that you also did gluten-free recipe...of course, my recipe couldn't of existed if it weren't for u... Thank you gem...

My mum use to put the slices of bread in the oven first to dry out..., then crush them in a hand grinder (like the type used for mince meat) The crumbs were then stored in a screw top large jar in the cupboard for months and we never had any problems with them going off or stale.

In Sri Lanka, we sun dry the bread slices for a few hours (until hard and crispy) and then crush them up using a mortar and pestle... Well this might be helpful if u dont have an oven...and/or a food processor😊

Thank you for sharing. I have received the same information from many bakers about drying it under the sun.

Will the bread crumbs last longer if I put them in the refrigerator or do they have to be kept in a cupboard?
@biggerbolderbaking
@biggerbolderbaking 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jasmine. You can store fresh breadcrumbs in your fridge for up to 1 week. You can store dried breadcrumbs in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks in the cupboard or up to 4 months in the freezer. Here's the recipe www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-breadcrumbs/

coffee grinder works for this too, just make sure you shake the grinder to keep the bread moving and don't grind for longer than around 10 seconds so you don't fry your grinder.

Would if work to put like butter and seasonings on them before we put them in the oven? Or how could we season them?
@biggerbolderbaking
@biggerbolderbaking 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Gina! I always season them when I use them in dishes. If you wish to give it a try, you can process bread until you get crumbs then add salt or other seasoning bit by bit to your taste. Add melted butter until you get a wet sand texture then bake. Hope this is of help!

I would rather microwave the bread and then grind it fine. Would it work though? Cause I have see the bread going really crunchy in the microwave.
