It's the middle of the very short-lived Seville Orange season, so now is the time to get marmalade making. I've been making this delicious marmalade for many years and it's a firm favourite with my husband - watch along now to see how I whip a batch and enjoy a little cameo from dear Sigh!
Sign up for my mailing list to receive my updated marmalade recipe:

You can also make this using a standard oven - you don't need to have an AGA!
I'd love to know how you get on, do share your jars with me over on Instagram: / askcharliehow
Love, Charlie x

Adored this video. I love how you keep these fabulous life skills going. In a world where it’s so easy to buy a jar, however it tastes so so much better when it’s been homemade, so, well worth the effort! X

Decided to follow your marmalade recipe with my friend Rachel. After a good dog walk we spent the rest of the day making 15 jars of marmalade, was a little tricky with four dogs all vying for the place by the Aga.It was a great success. My husband was a very happy man,it will keep him going all year and a few jars left over for gifts. Thanks Charlie.🍊😋

Oh Charlie you are such a treasure! This is exactly what I needed on this cold, damp day. (Although I have to say I wouldn't mind my laundry smelling of marmalade) x

An elderly neighbour gave me her recipe for marmalade 20 years ago using this method and it really is a lot easier and better. Lovely video, you have encouraged me to make mine next week. PS I always weigh and warm the sugar in a small dish by the side of the Aga lid, it dissolves more quickly and does not bring the temperature of the liquid down. 2d is 2 old pennies

Great yearly supply for Simon. I will have to give it a go, preferably a day when I'm alone and no interruptions so I can focus and take it slow to achieve a successful batch of marmalade. Thank you Charlie for this.

I appreciate the time and detail in your video. I tried my best. Mine was a complete fail. Tried to add powdered pectin to save. No luck. I dont know what i did wrong. Try again next year.

Very informative Charlie how many litres does your Aga pan take as my current preserving pan is the open type which you can’t use in simmering oven obviously!

It certainly is trouble is when your in your seventy’s it’s more of a chore, but love marmalade loath the shop bought stuff which seems to have too much sugar in , will get some as soon as I see the Seville’s in shops I’ll just make a smaller amount.

All food cooked on solid aga is tastier than cooking on electric or gas appliances. Not not hygienic to dig the oranges with finger nails especially painted ones, and your jam tester licked his spoon and put it back into jar ?
