I honestly use the cooked shrimp. Going raw you have to salt cure them and they come out more tough and chewy. Edit* add raw ginger it amazing

You guys are totally right....this is INDEED a variation and is quick in that you dont have to wait for the shrimp to “cook” in the pickle juice. They do usually go in raw. Thanks so much for watching! more on the way!

As someone who doesn't care for raw seafood (no, the pickling process is not "cooking," it's pickling), I like the the idea of a quick boil first. Even one minute might be enough.

+Dan Webster (Paw Paw) You should let them be in the pickling liquid for at least a couple of hours regardless of when you're eating them. If you're going to serve them right away (after two hours of pickling), you don't have to refrigerate them. If you refrigerate them they are good for about three or four days. Make sure you take them out of the fridge an hour before you want to serve them so the olive oil can become liquid again!

Cooking with Shotgun Reds "pickled shrimp" were really good, it is close to this version but more "country boy" and a few little other things, they were excellent. Now I think I'll try this version next, pickled fish is really good too!

@Jencifer13
@Jencifer13 6 жыл бұрын
Tyler L, ceviche is seafood 'cooked' in citrus juice. There is more to it, of course, but each chef/cook has their own ways of making it - some add onion, tomato, and jalapeno; some add fruit like mango or pineapple - you can find many recipes for it online.

I have now made three of his recipes and find them to be to sweet. He says he likes it sweet and that is what he got! I just had a bunch of unused mason jars lying around and decided to do some fermenting and pickling. I made some kimchi the other day and while being to salty was otherwise good to me. I am just starting out. The pickled fish I made according to his recipe was not really good but I used the fish I had on hand, swai and tilapia. Maybe that was the problem. It was not bad, just nothing to brag about. I am going to eat everything though!

I'm not overly thrilled with Steve Hall (cooking with Shotgun Red host) but he is correct! If you're going to make pickled shrimp, fish or ANYTHING you start out with raw and "cook" it with salt (sodium chloride) and the vinegar. At best, what she's doing is a "quick pickle" if you even want to call it a pickle! Cooked protein just does not pickle correctly!

I really knew she didn't have a clue when she said if you didn't cook it enough you'ld have sushi! NOT PICKLED SHRIMP BY ANY ACCORD!

When you said "pick a chili that's pretty," you kind of lost me. I would prefer to pick a chili for its flavour and/or heat, even if it was ugly. And anyways, what exactly is a "pretty" chili? They come in all sorts of colours: greens, reds, oranges, yellows, etc.

I love how KZbinrs know nothing, and then that nothing propagates. Seeds in Chiles have NO HEAT. It is the placenta that hold the seeds in place that have the heat. Also, learn how to use a knife without rocking the tip. Try a Pepin video.
