If I want the yoghurt to be fermented at 40 deg Celcius, what temperature should I set in the fermentation mode? It seems too long for the milk to reach a temperature of 40C. Could you please share your experiences?

I usually make yoghurt on the stovetop, but have ordered a TM6 and keen to try it. Can I manually select the temperature and time? I usually bring the milk up to 85C and keep it there for 1hr before letting it cool back down between 37C and 40C and culture it with Kefir. It basically condenses the milk so you get a thick yoghurt without adding anything to it. Hoping to do it in the TM6 so I don't have to stir it on the stove for that hour and check the temp all the time.

Yes :) You will need to go back once the hour is up and set it up to ferment and adding the culture, but everything else is done for you via the guided cooking.

Is it possible to use yakult as a starter? and if so, how much do I use? We always have yakult in the fridge.

I think it will ferment perfectly fine however the yoghurt would be runny like milk still as the yukult culture is runny :)

@@TmxingAdventures I think I might try the normal way. I'm new to Thermomix so I want to try things that should work properly. Also can I use a casserole dish to set the yogurt? It isn't too tall for the varoma and can sit comfortably in it. I don't have a thermoserver or the little pots. Also I can't see how all the little pots would all fit in the varoma anyway. All the pictures I see of the pots in the varoma only have about 5 of them.

Hello, if I want to add fruits to make fruit yoghurt, at which stage do I add them?

Hi Sherry. It can't be added before the fermenting process unfortunately. It needs to be stirred through after the 8-12hours and before setting in the fridge. What sort of fruit are you thinking of adding?

It's the very first turn of the speed dial and a spoon will display...is that what you mean or reverse instead?

No in this video she goes to the screen mode and pressed something and says you must have gentle mode????

I am going to make yoghurt tomorrow. I have uht milk. Our milk powder is skimmed can’t get full fat. Will it work. Thanks for all your advice. Ciara. 🇮🇪

Yes it will still work however it just might not be a thick :) Let me know how you go? There is a yummy yoghurt cake if you find it too runny and wonder what to do with it.

Worked perfectly with skimmed milk. Just had a bowl with strawberry, apple and rhubarb coulis. It was delicious. Thanks for recipe. Doing the pickled apples and pickled carrots tomorrow. Did the croissants for breakfast today. All gone. Had with the hazelnut and chocolate from Cookidoo. Bought oranges yesterday to do the orange squash and cake. Going to see now did you do another recipe for today. Have a good day. Ciara. 🥰☘️

Thanks for your feedback Lizzie. Unfortunately when this was filmed when covid first struck to support my thermomix owners and at the time I was unable to purchase a better microphone as everything was on back order. Thankfully 4.4k people have found value in this video still so I did not remove and instead have left it up for viewing. I do have a few other yoghurt videos to check out and learn from on youtube. Enjoy your Thermomixing.
