Hi Riotgear, thank you and congratulations for the tutorial, it is very good. I've followed it and everything works fine, but I have a uvs map for the texture maps and another uvs for the displacement effect. So the transition between the textures is not done correctly. Do you have a solution ?. Thanks a lot.
@RIOTGEAR3D
@RIOTGEAR3D 3 жыл бұрын
Try using the same uv map for both the displacement and in your shader setup . And make sure to put in similar values to sync the two effects.
@RIOTGEAR3D
@RIOTGEAR3D 3 жыл бұрын
Although I did get reports that for some people, even after doing that and setting up the exact same values for the video textures. They still did not line up properly. If it persists, try turning the video textures into image sequences first before using them. I haven't tried this solution myself to see if it works but I heard blender plays well better with sequences in place of videos.

How can you make the type of material to change too? I'm just starting with blender, and this tutorial helped a lot. Huge thanks!
@RIOTGEAR3D
@RIOTGEAR3D 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching... Inside the same material setup, you can create the two materials e.g wood and metal using two different principled shaders...then mix them using the animated texture as a mask

RIOTGEAR I think it's because I'm not using a principle shader. One of my materials is imitating hologram, so I'm using a lot of mix shaders here.

I made them inside AfterEffects, but the mov files were too large to share.. try checking if you've imported all frames in the footage. The mp4 should still work the same

Just found out that those two textures are advancing at different speed. The mask is going forward faster. Is there a chance that you can fix this? Seems to much to ask, but it is a pity that such good asset has just this one tiny but very obvious issue.

The videos are exactly the same length, they were made from the same mask in Ae. I'm not sure exactly what's causing them to be out of sync in blender, I didn't seem to come up when I was working on it. But I will have to check if I somehow shared wrong files with different framerates

I have a separate video on morphing a model, it's possible to combine the two but it wouldn't be very elegant, I'm still trying to figure out a good workflow for that. I haven't gotten into geometry nodes yet but that looks promising

Nice technique, but how did you create that video effect in AE?
@RIOTGEAR3D
@RIOTGEAR3D 5 жыл бұрын
The one used for the colour transition is a simple mask wiping across the screen with a distortion effect to make the edges rugged. The texture used for displacement is the same mask but with the saber effect from video copilot.
