Gonna do a 5 man space marine squad where everyone is from a different chapter and this is a really nice white armor! Might do something like that, minus the contrast step since contrast paint is pretty expensive, especially for a paint I won use too much. Tough I do get Black Templar contrast paint, really like the black with green/blue tones, feels more real than both Black Legion and Army Painter’s speedpaint black.

I use a spray primer normally, short bursts until you have even coverage of your model 👍🏻 make sure the can is well shaken and warm enough too!

More differentiation of tone in the Blood Angels red - if you want to do a whole marine though, go Baal red

Thanks for the video! Will definitely use this method. I wanted to ask what you used for the basing? Specifically, what paint did you use to get that dust effect on the marine's legs? Thanks in advance for any reply.
@ThePaintingCoach
@ThePaintingCoach Жыл бұрын
Glad it helped! The base is some martian texture - vallejo I think. The dust on the legs is a small amount of red oxide colour wearhering powder blended with a dry brush

Any reason to use soulblight grey over apothecary white?
@ThePaintingCoach
@ThePaintingCoach 2 жыл бұрын
Soulblight grey gives a harder edge as it is darker in the recesses - and you get a more neutral white with it. I prefer apothecary white for white cloth/fabric

How do you get it this pristine white from primer? I always seem to have to use several coats with a paintbrush to avoid seeing plastic through the white.

I use a spray can to prime it - is that what you were asking? 🤔

I use the spray too, but it never seems as white as what you start with in your video. I find I add multiple additional coats of white scar by hand to get true white.

I use loads - my preferred brushes are W&N Series 7 size 1 and 0. I also use the 'miniature' version for highlights. The trick to a good point is to drag your brush from the paint and twist the end into a point
