In my opinion this is a bad set of answer choices. DOS could also stand for Disk Operating System, also a computing term. To answer your question, in my opinion it's DOS because only one or a specific business or environment was affected. It would be DDOS if a service provider was affected and their various network links were affected by the incident and that incident was an attack. You can have a DOS that was self inflicted and not an attack.

Wait for the question at10:34, why isnt that a DDos instead of a Dos. Wouldnt it be DDos since its distributed over a lot of computers? All the people together trying to connect thus crashing the server makes it distributed right?

Not sure if im correct but its because a Dos attack exhaust server resources, such as in this case the servers being at capacity. While a DDos attack overwhelms a network with traffic request, which is not the case here as the game companys tweet said their servers hit capacity.

@@JustRallax Booth overwhelm servers the same way but can use different methods. As far as the Sec+ test is concerned, my guess is that DDoS Always means botnet. But server overload also just happens and doesn't mean it is an attack.

Don't really see how a zero-day attack can be guarded with by using a behavior based ips. A zero-day attack is designed around those behaviors not being recognized yet. A or D would both be better answers imo.

It was just denial of service because we're talking about multiple people with one machine each. Distributed denial of services uses multiple machines by one person aka a botnet.

I know this is kind of old. But yes these questions do resemble the real exam. I've taken network+ and SEC+ and they both create a scenario similar to these types of question shown in this video. Some of the questions on the real exam can actually be that simple and straight forward.

Woww now I know why I’m struggling so much with security plus!! I have zero background in Cybersecurity or IT or anything with computers where everyone told me you can start off at Sec plus. So many friends I know got their sec plus right off the bat and talked me into going straight to sec plus. But after three months of studying I’m still failing the practice tests And completely lost so now I know what I did wrong! I need to go get or at least study A+ and network + FIRST!! Geez. 🤦‍♂️
