Henry’s guard passing with weight and angles is a game changer. Been using it for a few years now and other people have noticed major improvement. Make sure to monitor the focus of your chest.

Thank you Bernardo! What makes this series so incredibly good. Is that you are so incredibly humble. Bernardo is a vicious top tier black belt. But in every interaction with other black belt that comes on this channel to share their knowledge he just listens carefully and show great interest in what they share. Not everybody is like this, especially when you’ve reached a certain level in your field of work. I really admire people that are great but are this open, humble and have this learning mentality that Bernardo have. Truly an inspiration. Thanks for a great channel, I’ve learned so much, and thanks for the life lesson. Just wanted to share one of my take aways from this series. Cheers from somewhere in Europe.

Great philosophy of guard passing. Weight always aiming at chest to chest. Pulling grips are good. Grip breaks aren’t needed. Break down frames with weight and angles. Arms only help remove impediments.

I trained with Rickson privately back in the day, before Henry even started. Great times. Rickson was the technical and spiritual embodiment of jiu-jitsu, and I always thought of Rorion as the business mind to whom all should show gratitude for the state of modern jiu-jitsu and MMA -- and every time I get another bjjfanatics email about another flash discount opportunity that makes me reflexively reach for my wallet, I have to smile. Bernardo deserves a coral belt in business-JJ as well. :)

Hi Bernardo / Henry. This week we were drilling open guard and I really struggled to pass, I kept getting caught in people’s grips and swept. I watched this video twice and went to training with it on my mind. Tonight was more open guard drilling and I was able to use this technique with great success. Can’t wait to practice it some more. Thanks so much for posting this wisdom.

I have had many people tell me I have heavy pressure in guard passing, even when I am not being intentionally heavy. It's more because of what Henry says here about constant forward pressure. Once I start moving forward to pass I refuse to move back out, I am passing not running.

I have all Henrys courses and have done several private lessons with Henry, his Jiu Jitsu is incredible. His Guard passing courses are Mind blowing and his pressure when passing is like none other. I highly recommend all Henrys material. I’ve been training close to 30 years and this Hidden Jiu Jitsu is unstoppable once you get the technique down

I didn't really notice this until right now, but it's really cool watching Bernardo interact with different instructors with a passion for LEARNING about new concepts in BJJ. This is a guy who has forgotten more than I'll probably ever learn but he still approaches the art as a pure student. I try to have this same attitude in my own training and it's really cool to see that this world renown blackbelt is STILL learning!

This is awesome. I think a lot of pressure/weight gets lost purely in the spirit of friendly training - as a big guy I know I’ve worked super hard only to find out that I learned some very bad habits simply by trying to avoid smushing smaller guys. I think that’s a mistake. But the flip side is having a gym full of people who don’t want to train with you!

@@hhspector3006 As I said, "pfft." All martial arts families have their squabbles and politics, and Rorion is the master marketer who deserves to be the family art leader. See 12:30 of "Rickson Gracie Red Belt Ceremony With Interviews" where Rorion says "Rickson is jiu-jitsu." That has never been in doubt. I once asked Royce and Royler if they'd ever caught Rickson in a submission, and they laughed and said no. I was incredulous. Just think about that. The years and skill of family members like that, and not a single time when he had an off day while they had a good day, or he zigged when he should have zagged and it just happened just by lucky opportunity among all the training hours and years. Nope. Rorion is the eldest son and business leader that anyone who makes a career out of JJ or just enjoys it should be grateful to, but Rickson is the expression.
