I went to Marine boot back in 99, yes I'm old. We had to do a PFT test before we went to actual boot camp. If I remember we had to do between 1-3 pull-ups some crunches and we had to run like a mile and a half all of this was timed. It wasn't a full PFT and if you failed you went to the "Pork Chop" platoon is what we called back then. Basically to get your ass in shape. If you kept failing that basic PFT test they send your ass home. I have no idea what it's like today.

Really great video! I'm in the recruitment process now. I had an injury half a year ago so I'm just waiting on those records and they'll start processing my info. I have a question. What do you think about building capacity? By that I mean doing multiple workouts a day and working on fast recovery. In BT were you guys doing physical stuff all day? From what I've read you stay pretty active. My daily schedule is typically something like this. - Yoga in the AM to loosen up - 1-5 mile run depending on my goals and other sessions that day - Right after is typically some type of body weight crossfit session - Then like you said I try and hit 100 pushups on top of whatever I do - Then most nights I'll have an ab session or some kind of sprint work if I can make it to a track. I don't always hit every session every day, but that's the goal. I'm working with a sprained ankle now so runs have been much shorter.
@TheBenAllen.3 жыл бұрын
I think you’re better off than most already, sounds solid man!
@TheLazyLifterr2 жыл бұрын
Ok so for your first question. I’m an ISSA certified personal trainer, so I can help. I would say, if you plan to do multiple workouts a day. Start with one first, and make sure to eat PLENTY OF NUTRIENT DENSE FOOD. This is important because when you start to do more than one workout a day, you’ll need to fill your body with even more nutrients, so don’t hold back. Keep eating, even though it might seem counterintuitive if you are trying to lose weight, I promise, your body functions best when it has the proper nutrients it needs. P.s. I’m leaving for Marine bootcamp on May 16th, and I’m very excited honestly. Hopefully I could help give some insight on your situation and good luck brother.
@TheLazyLifterr2 жыл бұрын
Also with a sprained ankle, I highly recommend getting an ankle wrap at least and a 10-15 minute ice bath post workout. Could also be inflammation, so you could try ibuprofen, typically no more than 400 grams for a normal daily dose. Like 200 am and 200 pm.

I ship out on Tuesday (February 8th) and I’ve never been a runner lol. But I am pretty fit and yesterday I ran a mile for the first time since elementary school and I did it non-stop. My recruiter said they pretty much train you to pass the test? I’m still nervous but feel confident that I will make it. I’m also 25 and not looking forward being the oldest one in training lol.

@camcamcamcamcamcamc3 жыл бұрын
I am enlisted but have not gone to basic yet so take what I say with a huge grain of salt. Depending on your fitness level, you’ll need to build I would say three important things: 1. Endurance 2. Core 3. Trunk 4. Pull muscles supplemented w push exercises to not create major imbalances Also add some supplementary quad, hamstring and calf exercises to avoid injury KZbin these things and find something that’s at your level ty

Don't be worried just do what you are told and you'll definitely get into shape. Don't cheat yourself or else you will not get strong in time to pass your Final PT/ACFT.

Wife took 3 acpt test throughout basic. Last one was just before graduation. If you pass the first time, I think that's all. My wife grew up without ever getting a bruise. So this was life changing for her. She passed, so anyone can do it lol. She was weak af before going in 😅. Ball throw gave her the most trouble. Leg tucks, if you can't do it. They make you hold yourself up for like 2 mins or something.

I don't know how to work out, so I often do do all I can, pushing myself. I get really sore afterwards, so I'm wondering if I might be over doing it? Should I space out the total throughout the day?

Hey Ben, I'm currently 14 wanting to enlist when I'm 18 and I'm a little worried how my parents will feel if I do go. I talked to my mom about joining the military but she tried talking me out of it. How did your parents feel when you joined the military and how do you think I should tell them when I enlist?
@dbesh57239 ай бұрын
Hey brother, unfortunately I’m not Ben but I will tell you as a 28 year-old who just joined the army. when I was 18 my parents were not fans especially my dad so he talked me out of it and I decided not to go then years later I regretted it and now I told myself im 28 Might as well try Before it’s too late. Where are your parents want you to join or not? It doesn’t matter manners is what you want and what you want for your future. Do you want to join your 18 do it they can’t stop you
