@Dave Dugdale Please pin/highlight this comment. Folks are still finding this video, which gives good information, but leaves them still having issues when screen real estate is limited. I actually had the exact same issue with showing the split screen. In case you're still trying to figure it out, I discovered what the problem was on my machine 1.) Make sure you're in the EDIT mode by selecting that from the buttons along the bottom of the screen 2.) To have the options available for changing the position of the clips and many other options, make sure the "Inspector" window is open 3.) At least on my machine/monitor, there isn't enough screen real estate to have split screen mode AND the inspector open at the same time. If I want split screen, I have to close the inspector. If I have the inspector open, it will automatically put me back into the mode with only one viewing window

"So just go here and click.." where? What is "here"? I'm searching everywhere for a Split screen or multiscreen button and so many videos say " just click 'here'" without saying wth here is. Frustrating. I'm older, so maybe newer generations know this stuff the way we knew how to stack stones or what to use to paint on cave walls, but there should be tutorials that we cave people can understand. Otherwise it's less like a tutorial and more luke an in joke.

I agree. Everyone assumes you know the software. Very few actually know how to teach.

Fully agree! This is a very poor tutorial. The main thing I learned is that it is indeed possible to use Davinci Resolve to put two videos side by side, instead of searching for (expensive) software on the web that will do the job. If he had explained it in simple terms I could have remembered what to do. Now I will have to search within this tutorial which parts I need. More that half of his tutorial is useless. If I want to learn about how to change colours etc. I would search for a separate video that precisely describes what to do then.

I am 25 years old and thought excactly the same in that moment xD That's the solution I am looking for and he just does the click.. Whatever it is, I can't do that within my version. You probbly have to have the right setting for this.

Had a question, got the answer within 2 minutes in a 4 minute video... That's unusual these days, so thanks a lot

Interesting but very messy tutorial. Why not just concentrate on how to put two videos side by side and that's it?! Why all the other unneeded stuff about colourization and other "waffle"? Just show the basics please and make a scripted text before you make a video because your commentary often sidetracks and you are continuously spluttering and looking for words. Also this tutorial is not for beginners.

Thanks for that Dave! So how would you have a black bar down the middle, separating the two clips?

As usual, nice stuff. Be cool to see how you use the X-rite for nailing colors on people when doing color correction. You may have made a video on that already? Or maybe you have a course on that? 👍

I’m trying to do this, but only the top video is seen in the playback. The bottom video is not seen, even when I position their parameters side by side. Can anyone help?

There are already a bunch of different comparison/splitscreen modes in the color viewer to compare selected or neighboring clips so this is a really time consuming way to do this.
