Shutup & Play - guitar tutorials I’ve always been so impressed with Elliot Easton’s style and ability. I’d love to see you do a tutorial of Shake It Up. Especially that killer solo. One of my favorite Cars tunes! 🙏🏻

This is great as usual, thanks! Elliot Easton's performance on this song is just a Master Class in tasty rhythm playing and fills. Just an AWESOME guitarist who doesn't get the credit he deserves. And the solo! My all-time favorite Cars song.

Brilliant lesson mate . I didn't think anyone would have taken the time to dissect Elliotts parts , and so well too . The guitarists from this era were often overlooked because there was simply so many of them that played with this sort of quality .

Another great video! I played this song in a band years ago but did it in the key of F, did all the fills and the solo (not as accurately as this though). For the life of me, I can't remember why we didn't do it in E. Would have made my life a lot easier!
@ShutupAndPlayGuitarTutorials5 жыл бұрын
For sure playing this in F would not be fun!
@davearonow655 жыл бұрын
We do this song in F too. I play bass so it doesn't matter to me, but the guitar player nails every part no problem. I asked him why don't we just do it in E, wouldn't it be easier on him but he said yes it would be, but he learned it in F and has been playing it in F for so long, why bother and besides, it sound's better and more right in F which I agree with him on, so, ok, F it is.

The funny thing is capo on F to play in key. A lot of people fall apart because it's tough if they are fret marker based. But it's worth pursuing just to test yourself out of the comfort zone of markers. I struggled with it but it is liberating all the same. I wish I'd learner with no markers on frets at all now!

Fun fact .... Elliot Easton, real name Elliot Steinberg, went to the same high school as Brian setzer. Age-wise I was between the two. Elliot a couple years older, and Brian a couple of years younger. I knew Elliott's brother and lived with setzer. There was rockabilly in the air back then in the town called massapequa Long Island.

Funny how the guitar lick in this song is very similar to the one in the Beatles "I Will" from the white album. Check it out and you'll hear the similarity instantly.
@nicholaswoolfenden525410 ай бұрын
Fab mate It's kind of Beatles You Will on steroids. The rhythm guitar of Ocazec is underrated simple as it is. It takes minimalism, hard to teach to my young students who are keen shredders. That's good but how about learning some rhythm chips before you leap into the abyss .... ? I spent 5 years playing rhythm guitar in the band. I only realise now that it was invaluable even if I thought I was just pedalling.

Wasn't sure at first, but this guys a pro! Nice job Edit- hey man, talented musicians, but we can all agree there was uncut cocaine and sometimes the notes just flowed...? Even today they might rewrite a few bars. Trye artists are never happy.

Andy - I know you are a stickler for accuracy - Rick does not play power chords on the chorus. Its a little boogie using the 'D' string 4th fret to 7th fret then back open B7. You can see Rick on multiple live versions doing it and other lessons on youtube have it ---- just saying :)
