major talking point: watch your opponent’s character not your character. when we pick up a character for the first time we focus on the characters moves, what they do, how strong it is etc. as time goes on and you become more familiar with the character you should be able to pilot them knowing what your moves are and your game plan. that way when you’re fighting you can watch your opponents character and react to what they do. read their habits and select the best option for your character

We need a central curriculum for not just understanding the fundamentals of Smash but also advice for how to practice, advice on controller settings, etc. We need a path for how to actually learn and get good because most people actually don't know how and think that just playing a lot is the key when really there are techniques and practice methods that will take you farther.

The annoying cliche but correct answer is practise. Once you become more comfortable with both your character and your opponent’s it’ll come naturally
