A nice presentation but factually in error in a number of places. For example, scoring should occur doing the game. That is what the marker and point tracker is for. This allows you to see who is winning.

You are absolutely correct! We have played this game A LOT and I guess we just played an example of how we would play it. I suppose it's not exactly textbook play. During the game, often times someone will forget to adjust their point marker and it seemed to be a pain to try to keep track of score during the game. That's why we just do scoring at the end, plus it makes it more exciting not being able to know for sure who is winning until the very end.

Yes, that is correct. Sometimes I draw a mission card and that mission is already complete! Awesome when that happens :)

Why did you get more destination cards? When do you get them?

You can get more destination cards to get more points. Usually you would only get more destination cards when you are done with your initial missions or close to being done. Otherwise you run the risk of not finishing some of them and getting negative points instead.

I don’t understand why the route of 1 pt between Dallas and Houston was counted at the end, but it was not highlighted as part of any ticket route when the tickets were presented. It was just an extra unneeded train car, but still went to the total of points. Is that a way to add extra points that I don’t know about?

Can you discard a destination card after your initial discarding if you realize later on in the game that you can't complete the route, or can you only discard when you first make that decision of how many of the cards you're going to keep after drawing them?

You have to discard the card/s initially. You can't discard a card a few turns afterwards.

Yes, you can draw two cards from the 5 face up cards. It sounds like you have the Europe Ticket to Ride. The one in the video is a little different. You would need to refer to the game instructions :) We don't own the Europe Ticket to Ride. I played that version before but unfortunately I forgot the specific rules pertaining to the tunnels and ferries.

You just collect more train cards :) There is no limit to how many train cards a player can have so just keep collecting until you can afford a route.

@@joannasmith8962 If you choose to draw cards, that is all you can do for that turn. You can't draw cards and claim a route on the same turn. So for example, on your turn you can only do ONE of these 3 actions: 1. Draw train cards 2. Claim a route 3. Draw more mission cards

After we play some game many times we like to change up the set-up, add some conditions, or change some rules to make the game more interesting.

How does the game ultimately end? I see you moving a marker around the edge, is there a finish line or final point total?

The game ends when one of the players runs out of all their trains. Then you tally up the scores and whoever has the most points wins. If you have more then 100 points, you just make another circle around the scoring numbers. If you play by the official rules you are actually supposed to keep track of your scores while you are playing the game, advancing your scoring tokens in accordance with your developing railroads. We did that at first but it seems like people constantly forget to advance their scoring token or they count something wrong and they have more/less points then what it looks like. So we just tally up points at the end of the game. Sorry for the long answer, hopefully somewhere in that paragraph you got the answer you were looking for ;)

The game is awesome! One of our all time favorites. (recently has been bumped down to second place by this game kzbin.info/www/bejne/raakpJ-nqbeUldk) By the way, if you get it, make sure you get the America version. My brother bought Ticket to Ride - Europe and it just wasn't the same. We liked America way more. Have fun!

Also, when you get one train card from the mystery pile, if the next card is a locomotive, the player can't take it.

From the draw deck you can take a train card and a wild card (locomotive). But if you’re taking a wild card from the face-up pile, that is the only one you can draw and your turn is over.

We have started with 10 train cards before ;) Changes things up a bit. After playing this game a whole lot,, it isn't as exciting as it once was so we like to experiment with different setups. I guess I even forgot its supposed to be 4 cards heh

You played the game wrong. As stated in the manual, with 2 players, each of the "double tracks" (the roads where two different players can build on the same track) are used as single track, only one player can build. Thats a rule you have not used...
