DROP EAR! I didn't know what I was looking for and when I was at the store I kept finding sink shutoff valves that connected directly to PEX... I certainly didn't want plastic tube sticking out of the wall. So glad I found this video!

@@KitchenRemodelVideos how far apart do the supply lines need to be? And what height? For bathroom sink
@eriklovlie9215 жыл бұрын
Pex recommends two (2) crimps at opposing 180 degrees then checking the crimp with the check tool. If the tool slides freely around the crimp, you are done. If it "binds" up anywhere, crimp again. I just got done plumbing my bath remodel and it was awesome.

I saw this and wanted to do it like this in my kitchen but it’s an exterior wall and some people say keep water supply out of an exterior wall. I was planning to spray foam too, I was even thinking about putting an access panel. Is this too risky, should I stub out the floor?

Always a good idea to check with go/no go guage that came with the crimp tool. A slow leak is a pain to deal with later!

What supplies would be needed to convert a single sink on copper to a pex his and her sink? (There is also a jetted tub beyond the sinks on the same supply

Why were the brass drop-ears used instead of copper stub-outs with which you sweat or use a compression stop? (I have a similar project and see there's more than one way to go about this.)
@KitchenRemodelVideos6 жыл бұрын
No soldering is needed when you use the drop ears with the threaded 1/2" nipple...only teflon tape. And, it's a nicer job when finished than stubbing-out copper and sodering everything together. We use primaraly PEX water lines and this is also best when using a PEX water line system. Eddie

When you have a tefloned screw thread inside the wall the manipulation of the outside end can loosen the inside connection and cause a slow leak.

prefer uponor expansion fittings, they have plastic rings so no chance of metal corroding the pipe

please specify how far apart are the lines and hight from the floor ??? thanks
@joshcowart24464 жыл бұрын
Water lines are 8” apart and about 21” off floor but don’t do what this guy did. Don’t put a drop ear el. You can get a copper stub el from a supply house or maybe Home Depot. Also he said he’s going to use drywall screws. They aren’t designed for sideways forces. As soon as you go to tighten or loosen that nipple those screws will break and then you won’t be able to back it up and will probably kink the pex trying to screw it out. You also shouldn’t use shark bite to tie into copper. Technically you can but I just don’t trust them to be in a wall permanently.

It is a good thing that it is not rocket science because because those two would be in trouble, lets just say they are not the brightest bulbs in the bunch.
@SkipGraham3 жыл бұрын
That's so weird - because I thought they were freaking AWESOME. I actually commented on how the guy actually doing the work was obviously a 'natural teacher'. Some people get irritated if they have to go too in detail, but this guy kept making sure that everything was explained - even something as obvious as what "male and female" would mean with regard to the fittings. He assumed nothing.
@cc_bloom Жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, they meant that it's not difficult so don't be intimidated. If you don't understand that, then perhaps you are not the brightest bulb.
