Am so glad I came by this video. My crown has always been thin since my relaxed days. This was the reason why I went natural hoping it would get fuller or grow out but it did not. So now the rest of my hair is growing but the crown keeps breaking. I hope trying these techniques will help it get thicker. Thanks

Wow, from some of the comments a lot of people have this same problem and I'm one of them. I have multi-texture hair as well and I feel that the middle/crown section is 4C although several people disagree with me. It is the shortest, thinnest and hardest to keep moisturized and it seems like it just doesn't want to grow at the rate the rest of my hair grows. It's so frustrating so i'm really happy I stumbled across this video...it was very informative and helpful. Plan to put these techniques to practice this weekend for wash day. Thank you for such a helpful video!

The main reason is the condition of your hair cuticle in that area. The sun beams down on the top of your head if it were the Sun causing your issue the front of your hair and the whole top would be dry. For whatever reason your crown became overly porous. Correcting that issue corrects the problem. 4c hair is awesome and strong when you care for it right.

I had to cut my crown twice, it's still the shortest part of my hair but it's longer and thicker, and I have no problems with it. I didn't do much but moisturized it a lot and massaged my scalp in the middle, nothing special lol

Section the Crown area separately? I never thought of that thank you! So when I would wear a twist out my hair looked crazy! So, I kept cutting down my edges. I recently started just twisting my edges and keeping my crown stretched lightly. I have been suffering from crown breakage, and when I started paying attention to that primarily via conditioning and moisturizing, it has been correct and it is healthy now. I have not thyroid gland, and as you know or may not know, this can be the culprit to slow and no growth due to no thyroid hormone. But I now, after 5 years, my hair is now bra strap length down my back. Shea butter, breaks my hair, I don't know. I use no products with petroleum oil (vaseline) and I learned the difference between moisturizing and oiling my hair. I stopped oiling and only moisturizing, and today I have long flowing beautiful hair. Thank you for your hair restoration tips.

No weaves, regular DIY conditioning, and due to covid-19 have been doing the best I can, etc. you provided info that I hadn’t realized was contributing to my breakage. AND you didn’t talk down or bad about those of us who already feel bad about having hair breakage. This is a great video! Fortunately I've never had crown breakage issues, but now that my hair is growing out from another big chop, I will remember not to part my hair in four sections and really focus on the crown, which usually tends to be a lot rougher and dryer than the rest of the head.

Great video. I went to see what hair type I have as my hair seemed to change drastically with breakage in the past 6 months. I am no where at a 4C more like a 2B, but I have to treat my hair like the 3’s and 4’s where I have to put oils in my hair to keep it well hydrated, and a head wrap, I have begun to braid my hair and not use a ponytail anymore as that just made more problems for me and if I put no oils then my hair would be dry as a bone, yet my scalp would be greasy. I also had an obsession to always comb my hair which for my hair type was not good at all. So putting it a braid and leaving it alone makes me, my hair and scalp happy. As for you, I felt really bad that your crown is more course where your hair sinks at the bottom of the cup. Ism just glad that you were able to find out the problem, your hair looks great!
