So glad I have this channel to cross check what I hear from the endocrinologist who thinks my testosterone should be at the low end of the “normal” range for people my age (75) to avoid unclearly stated “side effects” such as cardiovascular events, strokes, embolisms etc. If I ask what is the mechanism of such problems, I get more generalities rather than cause-effect descriptions or references to specific controlled studies. My last hematocrit reading was 50.9%, properly hydrated, so I am expecting to hear about that being too high soon, which is why this video was exactly what I needed to hear.

I'm so glad I came across this. I have Secondary Polycythemia for what doctors think my entire life. I have every symptom of Polycythemia Vera (PV) but without the bone marrow pathology and JAK2 gene mutation, which is why they don't diagnose me with Polycythemia Vera and say it is Secondary Polycythemia to another underlining issue. PV I'm sure you know is a myeloproliferative neoplasm blood cancer, so I am happy that I don't have that. My Hematocrit (HCT) without TRT hangs around 52 and Hemoglobin about 19. This also causes my blood labs to be wonky in other areas because my body compensates for the high HCT. My liver and spleen are also slightly enlarged. I've had every test known to man to try and uncover what causes my polycythemia. Every doctor is totally stumped to include Doctor Ruben Mesa from the Mayo clinic who is world- renown in this field. I just started TRT last week. I chose to go the lotion route that is applied to the scrotum. Reason being is because I've read that the lotion TRT has less effect on HCT than injectables. I have never had a therapeutic phlebotomy but feel that I need to start to get ahead of the impending super high HCT being I'm already starting where most of you end up. My local read cross does what's caller "Power Red" blood donations which only takes red blood cells and nothing else, leaving platelets and plasma in the body. Hopefully that will leave my Ferritin in the body which seems so be a concern for you. Anyway, do you have any recommendations for my circumstance to help me mitigate my HCT to be in the 60's? Something other than what's in your podcast because I listened to it in its entirety and took notes. Thanks guys! P.S. I wish you could do a study on me.

I did double red donations and after two years I crashed my ferritin , takes months to recover.

Finally watched in it's entirety. Useful information for the masses. Tit-for-tat in reference to HIF (hypoxia inducible factors) outside of erythropoiesis stimuli. HIF-1a has been observed to activate both ERa/β-mediated transcription in the absence of a ligand. In other words, estrogens subtypes don't need to be present for activation of either ER. Inflammatory cytokines have been observed to facilitate in a similar manner. This is classical paracrine cell-cell communication. Obviously ER's were not the topic of discussion. HIF acts as a mediator of a-many nasty things. And good too. Nonetheless, nice video fellas.

That was me about 10 years ago.. I was out of breath walking a mile slowly to the blood donation place and felt so much better after donation. I continued tracking my blood work and frequent donations and never checking Ferratin, until I did a double red donation and found my Ferritin was 10. Be careful to get Ferritin checked often and don't fall into the habit that I did. For years I was convinced it was only about HCT and Hemoglobin and was donating much too often.

Ok I hope this help people. I am on trt my hematocrit were 55 reason for this is because trt increases blood cell production your body needs more water than normal to make extra blood if it does not have this it make abnormal blood cells causing a thick blood concentration, I 1 drank gallon of water day before blood test and day of 2 liters before blood test, test came back hematocrit 46; try this before stopping trt.

Ok guy's I have a question which I will ask shortly. Here's my deal, I have been ion TRT for around 4 years and slowly over time I had managed to crash my ferritin and became slightly anemic. To combat this the doctor has me taking blood builder. That is all fine and dandy but what has happened is my body has now started over producing red blood cells. I went from a HGB of 14.2 to 18.3 in 4 weeks so I donated and all was good. Now 4 weeks later I can feel the blood thickening again and know donating will be needed soon. The problem with this is it's going to be very hard to get ferritin up while donating roughly every 5 weeks. Right now I inject every 4 day's and I'm not taking very much testosterone, my trough is in the mid to upper 600's. So the question is if I inject once a week vs 2x can that have a positive effect toward slowing down the conversion? I ask because years ago I remember someone saying something to that effect.

Well....I learn something new everyday. I recently had bloodwork done and I was told to fast before doing the bloodwork and I assumed that meant no intake of anything including water. Well now I know why my hematocrit was 51.2 borderline. I drank no water and ate no food for 12 hours. I'm in the process of testosterone therapy and at 200mg a week in the delts my t levels were 1600. I never felt worse in my life. Doc wanted me to inject my quads, but I was worried about hitting blood vessels. I dont know if the different injection locations had anything to do with it. Anyway currently on 100mg a week and feel great.

do u feel better on 100mg than 200?
@scottmason22452 жыл бұрын
@@Testo-Frede yeah 100mg works for me. When I was at 200mg a week my total test levels were 1600. My estrogen must have been out of whack because cause I felt depressed and lethargic.

@@scottmason2245 dont take it in one shot. Take it in 50 twice a weeks and you'll feel better. Because 100 at once you peak and gradually go down then peak then down and it a Rollercoaster. Twice a week you'll have more stable levels.

I take 150/week and it’s great. Feeling good is key. Estrogen can be out of wack yes. Inject in your back hip = no pain no nerves minor scar tissue. The rest of body parts don’t work as well. Delts and quads are risky
