For anyone else thats having issues with this, once you change the keymapping in the 'configure' tab its supposed to immediately update and start working. For me I have a nuphy Air75V2 and I didnt realize that layer 2 was required to be changed to impact windows input. So double check what layer you are editing in VIA.

Keychron users, layers 2 + 3 are for windows and 0 + 1 are for Mac OS Only so make sure your keyboard has the right switch turned on for your OS.

I don't think so this is correct for the Keychron Q2. Layer 0 is base mac layout, layer 1 is base windows layout. So if you've got the switch on the back flicked to mac, you wanna edit layer 0, otherwise you edit layer 1. Layer 2 is the layer that the mac base later interacts with, while layer 3 is the one the base windows layer interacts with when you use the fn1 key. The fn2 key activates layer 4. I know it's confusing as hell, but I'm pretty sure this is correct

I wish I could figure out how to make Via work with my Zoom75. Via sees my keyboard when I click configure device, but it won't connect for whatever reason. The keyboard works fine plugged in or using bluetooth. I'm not sure if I have to upgrade the firmware on the keyboard?? :(

Nice vid! Just getting started with VIA and the layers explanation helped. Curious, what kind of keyboard are you using? I think your favorite macro of all time can be simplified. Once you've created additional desktops in Mission Control, go to OSX Keyboard settings, Shortcuts tab, and in the Mission Control category you'll see options to set key combos to "Switch to Desktop {1,2,3,...}" Select an arcane key combo, and then make a VIA macro for that. I use Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+{q,w,e,r} for my four desktops.

Use 3D in the style tab, and make sure if you load JSON file fow USB connection then connect keyboard over USB, and if you yuse 2.4Ghz file connect it with dongle.

I assume that you're concerned with keystroke recording. You can run VIA through the app, works for my Monsgeek board; then you can always set a firewall option to keep it from calling home; I can't remember right now whether I had to, but I run LittleSnitch for that purpose.

Unfortunately, VIA can only be used to program PCBs that it recognizes. I believe it is meant for keyboard programming only. It depends on what brand of mouse you are using, if it's a Razer or Logitech mouse, they have their own programming software, in which you can program macros onto ur mouse buttons.

@@fala I had the same issue bro.... I found out that I setup my configuration not on the windows tab. There are 4 LAYERS. Default Layer 0 - for MAC. I don't remember correctrly 2 or 3 layer for Windows.
