I have always found that doing your removal at home helps you make a tool list of what you should take to the junk yard to get the part you need. Nothing worse than getting out there and not having what you need to do the job. Thanks for the video.

Great video! I watched it twice, then had the whole replacement done on my 20 year old Jeep driver's side door in 35 minutes. It also helped that the old Jeeps were really designed to be repaired easily.

Even though it is 3years old it still helped. The glass can be unbolted it the up position in a 97 xj and held in place with soft tipped clamps. Thanks for posting your videos, they are helpful...👍

Could you please recommend a tape that will secure the window and not leave a ton of residue on the glass to clean when the project is complete?

not from personal experience as i used duct tape lol. but here is a copy and paste for you: Gaffer tape, also known as cloth tape, typically leaves no residue. The product is similar in appearance to duct tape and comes in varying widths and colors. A relatively recent entry into the marketplace is no-residue duct tape. Its manufacturer claims it won't leave any residue behind, as long as the tape is removed within six months of application.

Don't bother splicing the wires, just take the control module out of the door panel (3 screws) and plug it in- this is assuming your passenger window control switch actually works! There are other youtube videos on how to fix that issue as well.

Great Video. Wish you made it last year before I swapped ALL my glass for privacy glass and 2 regulators! I hated that clicky noise so much but all good now!! Keep the Videos coming brother, maybe do a how to pull an engine from a 2001 and put it in a 1998! lol.. wish me luck!

I'm sure there are other reasons why he removed the window (future video content?) but that's not necessary to get the regulator out. Just tape or GENTLY clamp the window in the up position once you remove the two bolts.

If the motor works why are u replacing it? If the motor works by jumping it, to me that would indicate it’s the switch or a connection from the switch to the motor?

Matt some earlier model jeeps had power windows in The Laredo's I have a jeep 89 pioneer xj I was wondering can I pull a 89 Laredo's door panel off that had power windows. Would the hotwire method used in this video be able to work even on a regulator motor that doesn't work at all? If not, then is there a method avaliable to slide the window down in order to access the two bolts that hold the window to the regulator, besides cutting the drive cable? Thanks!

I have a Question. So my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport has Electric Windows. When I close my drivers window and you hold the switch too long it makes a grinding sound like the motor wants to keep pushing it up even though it is fully closed. What does that mean?

There are videos about that problem that help troubleshoot that. I would type in "jeep cherokee window problem" and stuff should show up. One guy had the regulator out and if I remember correctly it was some weird plastic retainer piece that was broken but do not quote me on that.

Before cutting a bolt, pop on a nut, then after cutting the bolt, remove the nut to restore the thread at the cut.

I did this with my 99 xj. The window goes all the way up almost perfect, but at the very top, it starts to go up crooked. Any ideas of what I did wrong?

Go to 3 minute mark. When you reinstall the glass and all the screws in the regulator everything needs to be centered. A little left or right and you'll be off-track. push it all the way up by hand, mark the position or see that it's straight and then tighten the bolts, test your window before you put everything back together.

Here's my question, can I take a manual door, and put my electric door panel on it? The previous owner of my jeep was rough on it so it's got a flimsy mirror and it's dented to shit. Now my uncle has jeeps sitting around and was thinking about taking just the door, is that doable?

yes you have to pull the bar out that screws into the window, and then replace the door panel with a manual one with the hole

Why remove glass? Couldn’t you release with a clip at bottom, push back, up and then tape in that position?

Not the same. Just took it apart and I have two tracks. Looks like a bigger Motor that loops in to both of the tracks. They don't make the part any longer.
