These videos are magic. I'm attempting all kinds of DIY stuff I never had the nerve to try before but Jeff's wealth of knowledge is invaluable. He still makes it look so much easier than it is but we are really stretching our renovation budget so much further doing the work ourselves!

Our kids sponsored basement band bashes for several years....yes, you can imagine the results. I had been very reluctant to tackle fixing all of the holes, including holes made for gas line (earthquake), electrical (kitchen reno), and sundry other causes. HUGE SAVE...weeks of work boiled into just a few days...AWESOME JEFF!!!

Another great drywall video. I have a bad area that needs to be repaired. Watching a number of these videos gives me confidence that I can do it. I won't know how bad until I open the wall. It's plaster, getting a drywall patch. I was advised to make sure to wet the plaster so it doesn't suck all the moisture out of the mud. If it doesn't work, I can try to plaster it instead. Thanks for all your vids. Genius!

I do enjoy these videos- it’s a nice change to hear measurements in inches & feet (people in England look at me funnily when I don’t use metric), to hear such an adorable accent, and to be encouraged seeing how to do so many things that I wish I could do myself may be possible for me to do!

Glad you're making these videos but gotta point out: you can use painters plastic and tape to fully control dust, so you can use the mud you like, make sure wood is flat against back of drywall, 3 screws on either side of hole will ensure it doesn't push through, make sure screws are just below paper face, if it breaks the paper it won't hold, use a bigger knife each time you come back, less mud you leave, less there is to sand. Just some tips and tricks from a pro 😉

I’m so glad that this looks easy to do, bc my father-in-law fell halfway through the ceiling in our master bedroom closet a few months ago. This is a new house out in the middle of nowhere that we just bought last year, and I swear that it’s taking way more damage than our old house that’s being renovated. Bc he fell he got white installation all over our clothes once we pulled him out of the hole, lol. And then I found out home installation is bad for your lungs so I cleaned the area with a broom and took duct tape to pick up all the debris off the carpet, it was a real mess. All to show him where we were installing the Star link in the antic, and he took only two steps in and fell in between our master closet and the attic. And this is only the second time he’s fell, bc he fell clean through his ceiling and unto the laundry room floor of his old house that we’re now renovating lol. And I’m just hoping that we pay our neighbor whose renovating our old house to do it lol. But my father-in-law and his gf are moving into our backyard on a concrete slab for their RV that he will also build, so I’m prayers bc I’ll be worried for our house, lol God bless.

Thanks for the video, I never knew the drywall paper was thinner than drywall tape! In the last year I found "setting" drywall compound powder that requires mixing (why would I want to do that?!?!).... Turns out that setting compound doesn't shrink (you can fill huge gaps), is stronger and dries in 20/45/90 minutes! I now only use the "bucket" stuff for the final (sanding) coat.

California parches are a good choice to use. Since it’s on the ceiling, a screw is definitely called for preventing the patch from falling down.
