HOW-TO repair your mini quad copter - changing the motor, props, taking it apart

In this video I will go through how to replace a burnt RC motor a nano quad copter. The model that I have is the FQ777 - 124 pocket drone.
This is (obviously) my first attempt at anything like this, the purpose is to show that it is easy to do and anyone can do it. If I can anyone can.
In this video I will take the mini drone apart and replace one of the engines.

Did you do it in the correct order? First turn on the drone, then the controller, it should bind automatically. Does the controller make a "beep" sound when you turn it on? If not maybe it needs new batteries. Hope it already works for you by now, if not I hope this gets you one step further. Good luck!

Can I use a medium diameter tip of solder to solder and unsolder the wires of the motors

Not sure about the size, but my guess would be yes. I bought the cheapest solder I could find and it does the job good enough. The tip on that one is pretty blunt. Go for it!

You can. But with bigger surface of your soldering iron's tip, it will reflow faster. Just make sure the whole bead of tin/ solder is melted and the wire goes well into it so you don't get a "cold joint" which is brittle/ fragile and might easily come loose at impact.

This is the information found at the banggood website about the motors. Black-white cables = counter clock-wise, CCW Red-blue cables = clock-wise, CW Good luck!

Hiya mate! Nice video! A little tip for soldering : It's a lot easier to reflow if you add some fresh solder to the bead that's already on the pcb because by doing that you add fresh flux to the joint. I always do that with the wires as well due to fresh flux. Also, usually the factory solder is lead free and therefore a pain in the ass to solder. Make sure the wires are melted INTO the tin on the pad, not just on top of it, as you will avoid getting a cold joint which in time will break the connection between wire and pad. Don't be afraid to use the side of your soldering tip, you'll get the job done quicker and more rigid by quickly heating up the area you're soldering. I recommend you finding a chisel shaped tip as well, or just sanding/ blunting the tip you have (and rather have another spare sharp/ pointy tip at hand for precision work if needed) Final tip: You don't need to tin the tip before cleaning it- and THEN tin it again. Just swipe it over the cellulose pad to remove impurities and/ or oxidised solder and THEN add fresh solder. No need to waste your solder :) I'd buy some 0.5mm 60/40 rósin core solder from eBay, the one you're using seems thicker than necessary for this purpose. Hope this helps! Best wishes from Norway

i have a doubr mine is failing the right up motor is going counter clockwise and also the left down but both have black and white wires on them, how can i fix them to go the clockwise; Please help!

So the motors are running the the wrong way? You can try to reverse the polarity on where the cables are soldered to the board. Meaning, switch white and black and solder back to the board. I have not tried this myself though, should work. Hope this helps! Good luck.

Need help - on mine fq777 one wire on one motor disconnected (due to excessive crashes while my kids practicing :) ). Now I want to solder it back, but I don't know how to expose wire (take off isolation) becuase wire is so fragile that I am worried I will break it or cut it instead take isolation off. Any help about that?

+zutititl maybe you already solved the problem? I agree the wires are very thin coming out of the motor. I dont have any great advice to give you, steady fingers and small cutter. My motor was broken so I had to replace it which meant that the wires were exposed in a way that made it easy to solder back on. Good luck!

question my propellers have a2 and b2 or a3 b1 what do they mean? please help

Hi, there are only two types of propellers A or B, they might have a number after or not. The difference is the way they will spin to get any effect. On mine the A propeller goes on a motor that spins counter-clockwise, and the B ones spin clockwise. On mine it is as follows, with the FQ777 on the table with the charging port facing me, the top right and bottom left is A, top left and bottom right is B. Good luck!

my drone is the 951c modal if that helps at all.

From looking at pictures at the 951c model it seems that the below is the correct setup for that drone. With the camera pointing up and the battery connector pointing down (at least judging from those pictures) A_ B | | B A If it still flies to a certain direction, it might be trimmed heavily to that side, check the manual for that, or it might be broken somehow. Hi, that doesn't sound like a good start for a new drone! Make sure it's properly charged (silly thing to say, but made that mistake myself). If it still doesn't start you should contact the place where you purchased it. Good luck!

Oh that sucks!! Not sure, maybe it would be possible to glue the switch back on with a strong glue?? Depending, of course on what the damage is. Otherwise, it's possible to get a new receiving board (where the on/off switch is) and replace it, its about $4 from banggood.
