So was it really this simple to change the spark plugs? My dealer wants to charge me $325. But the dealership sold me new plugs for only $85. So if I can do it myself I will also save 200 plus dollars.

Hey thanks for showing me this. When I was young and cars were uncomplicated, I used to do these things myself. But now that I am a lot older, and cars more complicated, I thought it would be more difficult. After my Mazda dealer said the cost would be $323 to change plugs, I watched this video. I'm going to tackle it myself this morning. Thanks.

Just wanted to drop a thanks here. Perfect video in length and the info was spot on. The step by step was easy to understand and I did it exactly as shown with perfect results. I ended up not having a 9/16ths spark plug socket, so I took the rubber thingy out of a 5/8ths spark plug socket, cut it down a bit in size and put it in a long 14mm and it was good to go.

I just had my oil and filter changed in my 2015 6 and the service rep said because I had almost 80,000 miles on it, and Mazda recommended a plug change at 75K. I asked how much and they quoted me almost $500 -- that's over $100 a plug. I passed. And after watching this video I'm glad I did, although I don't plan on changing my plugs until I see a noticeable change in performance, starting, or gas mileage. We just got back from a 10 day 1,500 mi road trip and are still getting upper 30's mpg on the highway even driving in pouring rain. The 6 is rated 38 mpg hgwy by the EPA and that's exactly what we got over the last part of our trip.
@HomeOwnerRepair
@HomeOwnerRepair 2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend changing the plugs at that mileage. If you leave them in there too long they might be more difficult to get out. You don't have to go crazy with fancy expensive spark plugs, just get the factory replacements. Hope this helps you out.
