Sep 17' and im watching this video for my 09 chrysler h5.7 hemi her edi. Last year i replaced my radiator, upper, lower hoses, and thermostat, so im very familiar with that process on this car. Thanks for showing me how to get the s belt off, and thx 4 showing me how to take my pump off. We have the exact same car insides, so this video was perfect 4 me. Its cool to see other fellow 300cs on the road.

Okay thank you for the info. Great video. I changed my waterpump on my 06 charger 5.7 no visible leaks but smells like burning antifreeze.

I spilled a bunch down the front when I pulled the pump. I think I remember smelling it for s day or two. Put a pan under to catch and see if it's leaking, and see if it still stinks in a few days.

Dude, thank for this! Also: Nevermind the fact that chrysler decided to use plastic radiator fans... am I the only one who thinks it's ridiculous that the intake manifold is plastic??? I only discovered that it was after replacing the intake manifold gaskets. I was like wtf?

I have the same car. I need help same engine. Coolant lower hose I ran over a rock. It pictured the hose. I replaced the hose. The car only leaks coolant when the vehicle is off. Not when it’s on. I can’t find no leaks in the hoses. Idk where it’s coming from.

great video. question on replacing the belt though, since that wasn't shown, do your clock wise turn the bolt with tool from haborfreight in order to replace? I;m confused on the replacing of belt part
@citadelgrad877 жыл бұрын
Hi Daryl. To loosen the pulley to change the belt, just press the harbor freight tool toward your right as you face the car, it is spring loaded and you can feel the tension. I think I said counter in the video, but move the top to the right as you face the car. When you get the belt off, don't let it snap back,,ease the pressure off. Make sense?

hey man. great vid. when i replaced my stock thermostat it was stamped 203 degree.. i slapped in a 180 and adjusted fan on spacs with a tuner.. my '12 charger rt never passes 194.. not a bog diff but hey.... ummm i did have a quiestion thouogh... theres a reverse hex bolt (allan key style) on the pump just above the thermostat hose mount on the front of the pump........ is that an air bleeder?????? ive always wondered and never loosened it... i was hoping maybe you had to bleed the air out of the system? when i changed my thermo i lost a bunch of fliud cuz i wasnt fast enought popping the newone in and im sure there was air in hbehind it.... i just dont know of it all get cycled through to the resevoir or does it have to get blead out with the allan bolt??? if you know i would love to find out. thanks man. Would you happen to remember on the back left side of the water pump there’s another pressed hose like on the right side but are they both sealed with an O-ring or is just that right side one? My pump is good just pissing from that little metal hose
@jodirt6584 жыл бұрын
NILA TV I got a 06 300c srt8 im going to do mine soon just put some expoxy gasket sealer grey to be exact around that hose it should wiggle off if not you have to take the water pump off and do it and you should be good im going to buy a factory mopar one changed it out once not oem now I have to replace it again
@nilatv21784 жыл бұрын
Jose Pulido mine ended up being the return line from the heater core to water pump. $25 on amazon about and didn’t have to replace the intake gasket since that needed to be lifted to work the plumbing through. Mine was totally rotted out per day
@R2D2arthurge6 жыл бұрын
How much you paid for that part and what's the part number?
@christopherbustos13208 жыл бұрын
Did you use any kind of gasket sealer? is it required?
@citadelgrad878 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher. No, there is a polymer gasket that is press fit into the back of the water pump, and it was in place already when I bought it. The new thermostat comes with a gasket, too. All I did was carefully clean the surfaces where the gasket was going to contact. I did this with an old credit card, and scraped the gunk off until it felt smooth. No leaks after a month.

My car recently started overheating on the temp gauge. I replaced the thermostat and it still overheats. And also my heater will not get hot. What does that mean? Is it my water pump?
@ddygo6 жыл бұрын

@justinwoodlee10626 жыл бұрын
Yeah if you ever have his issue again the water pump has weep holes right inside of the pulley of the water pump one at the top and I'm pretty sure there's a freeze plug in the bottom that water pump shaft and it has a little weep hole above it. and that's where it'll start leaking whenever they get ready to go bad
@beastcow125 жыл бұрын
Heyyyyyyyy, my 06 has hail damage on the hood in that same spot lol

So, is the tensioning pulley supposed to be completely removed as well? I heard you say you were going top pr or back on but not that you were ever planning to remove it.
@citadelgrad874 жыл бұрын
Yes, I took it off and put it back.on. it has indexing pins and IIRC a single bolt.

@@citadelgrad87 I did the work already but now I have an even worse leak coming from somewhere on the under side. Gonna do a pressure test on sat and find the source

What were you saying about the air conditioner being dual climate control and delaying , my 2006 300c only blows cold and hot from the passenger side doesn't seem to change on the driver side or rear vents I thought it can be a stuck opening and it wasn't letting the air go through the driver side but if you happen to know the issue and fix I would love to know

hi I'm changing my water pump tomorrow but do I have to change the belt too? I'm low on money
@citadelgrad876 жыл бұрын
Katherine Tarver you dont HAVE to, but they have a limited life, and its a lot of trouble to change one if thats all you are doing. Plus if it breaks, you may need to pay for a tow. Better safe than sorry, they arent very expensive.
@katherinetarver30196 жыл бұрын
also how many bottles of antifreeze I need is it 2 with 4 gallons of distilled water? Also what antifreeze should I get. I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 Hemi 5.7L.
@citadelgrad876 жыл бұрын
Katherine Tarver i used most of two gallons, and i bought the pre mixed HOAT stuff so i didnt add water. Make sure you get HOAT antifreeze, because it protects the aluminum block.

Followed your video, changed water pump. Thermostat was just changed about 6 mths ago, so did not change that. Everything went great until i test drove. It ran hot before i got a mile up the road. Can you help?
@citadelgrad877 жыл бұрын
Hi Carolyn. Did you refill the water tank with coolant? If so, run it in the driveway with the hood open and watch the water leave the tank. Keep adding water until it stops "burping" and sucking water. Turn the heater on and let it get hot, then turn it off. Carry coolant with you for about a month. Let me know how it goes.
@citadelgrad877 жыл бұрын
Check the water level AFTER it cools every drive. Add water only after it cools.

0:52 Plastic radiator? Yep, however, my 07 Dodge Charger 5.7 R/T still has the original plastic radiator (original hoses too for that matter) and it is still working great at just over 118k miles 13 years later. Yes, plastic sucks, which brings to mind the fact that they also saw to it to use a plastic top on the oil dipstick (idiots). My dipstick broke, so I will have to somehow replace it. Saw a few videos on how to do it (the drilling technique worked for them). I will most likely have to remove the mounting bolt from the exhaust manifold and pull the tube out to remove and replace the dipstick.

I replaced the thermostat, the cooling fans, i flushed it and added new coolant. Changed the radiator cap. Coolant is still boiling. Please tell me its the water pump and not the engine. 🙏🏻

Hi Daniel. I literally just googled it a few times. There is an online shop manual at lx.bigbruin.com/2006-LX-SM.pdf. It says "lx" but gives instructions on all 300 models. You just have to make sure you're looking at the correct engine. At 7-20 and 7-21, it lists 2006 specs as the same, pulleys "40 ft. Lbs", and water pump bolts "20".

+daniel devora well, youre not going to like this but you should pull the two block bolts to drain all the coolant. it sucks. I still have antifreeze in my hair. to purge, I just filled the overflow and took a ride, short ar first, thrn let it cool and then refilled. took about a week. dont forget to run the heater. good luck
