Pre-organizing the lines help too. Sort, separate the pigtails and wrap again.

Don’t listen to people giving you slack mate, you didn’t claim that this was the only way to do it or that it was the best way. An informative video is informative and you never know when you may need this information!

Cheers Blake. Great video! Before watching this video I just did a deep water launch over the weekend blowing 22knts with a 9m without getting wet. Kite in water like you did...ran lines along side boat feeding all 4 lines through fingers of one hand and making sure the lines floated away (sketchy)... pulled in kite and attached lines as someone held the kite up (sketchy)(32' CC so we had enough room)... placed kite back in water leading edge down but holding the safety line... fed kite out slowly holding safety line (super sketchy...worse with high-y bar)... the kite grabs much more downwind (sketchy) so this isn't for the feint of heart. This is just another way I do it. I don't recommend anyone do it my way. Definitely don't do it if you have a Core or Duotone high Y bar!

Good video Blake. If you haven't the option of pre-rigging and attaching your lines on shore, then launching and rigging off a boat is generally a shitshow......whatever way you do it. Biggest challenge is rigging up tangle free especially when moving water and cleats are involved. Swim out is one way to do it. Set up on boat, then drift the kite out is another which has its own inherent challenges with waves, or gusts. Definitely not for beginners!!

Great video, thanks. 🪂 Helpful also after spending a night or more on the boat for subsequent days away on the water. Different weather and different sizes are likely then. :)

I rig from My skiff a lot, but always anchor in water shallow enough to walk in easily. The only way I would do a deep water launch is if the lines were pre-attached, or pre-organized on the bar (which is what I do after every session anyway).

Could have unwound a couple of metres of line first and attached just the two front lines before letting the kite drift away. Then you only need to untangle the steering lines and swim around to attach them.

I just find shallow water or a beach to rig. If I'm already in shallow water but deep enough to get up on the board, I just go from there. If I rig on the beach and there is no shallow water, I've done it 2 ways. (1) Wrap lines on the bar on the beach and carry the inflated kite and bar to the boat and head to deep water. Drop the kite in the water hooked to cleat via rope or leash and let it trail off 10 feet or so, then start unwinding lines. When lines are out, hook the bar to a cleat, unhook the kite and when lines go tight launch so kite sits on its wingtip. (2) Similar but instead of winding the lines on the bar, coil them in a bucket and bungee the bar to the top of the bucket. Coil so the kite end of the lines sit on top. Take the whole mess to the boat. Disconnect the bar from the bucket and hook to a cleat. Drop the kite in the water and let it drift pulling the lines out of the bucket. When lines go tight, you are done. I get the idea of doing all rigging in deep water so you can pick your kite on the fly, but it seems like it would just be easier to find shallower water. Once the kite is in the water and tethered to a cleat, it's not hard to rig the bas as long as you can stand on move around OK. Waist deep water is easy but I've done it in chest deep. If you are looking for a challenge, try pumping and rigging a kite from a jet ski.

As it was said: not easy or quickest, and not the safest or the best most of the time. But it may be the ONLY way sometimes, so great lesson! Tx Blake!

Billions of failures possible here, and a hassle too. Much easier to attach the lines on the beach……. Do not see the sense of this.

.Kountchi you are right not really the right way !!! too many nonsense ... better to set up on the land and roll and launch after in the water . I follow you Blake but here you are wrong

There are many ways to do it and here is just one. This is how to do it if you need to do it in the water and have no other option. Biliions are a lot 😂 If you do it on the beach and want to switch kites you should know how to do it. In shallow water it's much easier but I wanted to show the hardest way. Have a good one ✌🏽

@@bestofall7321 this way is not for everyone and that's why I mentioned that. It's the hardest way to do it but if you need to this is how and it's possible and not unsafe if you do it properly.

@@philippebeaucaire3341 haha, really getting a lot of slack for this one. Sorry guys, was asked to make this video and this is how you do it. Don't do it this way if you don't want to, just another option. cheers.
