I'm a mechanic at a Ford dealership. I currently have three F-150 rear axles torn apart and waiting on parts. All of them have one thing in common... Diff oil was full of water, and the Owners say they submerge the axles when they launch their boats. I would say don't do it, but.... Then I wouldn't be buried in gravy rear end rebuilds and making bank off idiot-taxes.

That guy with the SuperDuty totally could afford a trailer if he owns that truck but would rather "save money" buy destroying his differential by flooding it with saltwater ruining the fluid, in turn destroying the gearset. Lmao 🤣 don’t let no one fool u. Nobody learned over night how to back a trailer up. Hell I taught my wife in a school parking lot with cones. The best thing thoo, is to have someone who knows exactly how to back a trailer up. Cause depending where u place ur hands on the wheel- the trailer will go opposite of what ur doing. And small short trailers turn faster and harder than a long trailer- so even small movements of the wheel will dramatically turn the trailer. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I rather be lost on the lake than found at home

I live in Hawaii and have a 26 foot with twin Yamaha 150 hp. I have never seen so many inexperienced boaters as you show trying to launch and retrieve their boats. No wonder why we end up having to take these eight hour Coast Guard video exams. I never use the steering wheel docking or loading the boat on trailer, I have twin engines. Steer your boat with your throttles! You master this and you will always get your boat home if you lose steering. Never completely submerge your center trailer boards, that's what will center your boat on the trailer. Drive your boat onto the trailer, allow the center boards to knock you in the groove and be patient. Once in the groove, steadily add power until the boat begins to move up the trailer. Only add additional power to maintain forward moment as needed (never floor it!!) until you gently bump the roller on your wench. When hitting the roller maintain throttle to hold it on the roller and slowly back the power off. Boom bada bing!! Alittle patient practice and it will make your life easy. I launch this boat all the time by myself and do not tie up the dock. Before you launch decide which dock you are going to tie to and get your bumpers and lines rigged. Never launch (especially at low tide) with a two wheel drive. I have an F350 4x4 that I clutch in 1st gear and brake the boat down the ramp (my boat weighs more than the truck with no trailer brakes as they don't lie salt water) in 4x4 until I see the rear of the boat float. Get out of truck unhook boat from trailer (front portion of trailer will keep boat from floating away), get on boat lower and start engines, check engines that they are pissing water, staighten engines, put both engines in reverse and give a burst of power to pull boat off trailer. Drive trailer to the chosen dock and tie off, then go park trailer. Tada! Common sense goes along way. DO NOT TIE UP THE DOCK SPACE! HELP OTHERS AND BE CURTIOUS! Aloha.......................

Backing into salt water probably isn't any worse than driving on salt covered winter roads up north. We do it all the time

The couple minutes the truck sat in the salt water is nothing compared to driving a few miles on the Winter roads up north and trucks and cars there last years with no issues.

The rear diff is vented; salt water will get in and mix with the gear oil... Road salt doesn't do that.

Just from watching a ton of your videos, I have to say that the best thing they need at this dock is people to direct and help with traffic and loading. Also, backing any vehicle with a trailer, the less you turn your tires, the better. Small movements of the wheel make large moves of the trailer.

Me either. I watched a neighbor back his trailer in one day. Single axle, took him 45 minutes. He eventually unhooked, grabbed it, and walked it in.

@Bob Watters I guess. But I would never do that. Parents never showed me, so I learned from the company I hired in with during the oil spill in 2010. They were great. I normally don't hate on people, but some people need the criticism.
