Cory, what options are for the 2017 6.7 without going through a full delete? Just to get rid of the little idiosyncrasies. Such as the shifting hang ups and maybe a little better fuel efficiency. I pull new RV’s all over the country from out of Indiana and don’t want to get hassled by EPA.
@Thicc_Boi9133 күн бұрын
Seems like it’s just a pretty part like aftermarket caps and not an actual problem. They make the housing and cap out of plastic to be sacrificial. Like the new pans the housings are glass reinforced polymer like Glocks. So unless you are rock crawling, it really isn’t worth it to replace anything with metal.

I got my truck new in April 2017 and since have gone through 23 of those cheap ass plugs cause they break if you look at them crosseyed. If your billet solution works, wow... what a great idea. On another note I have never drained or seen so much water as in your video. You should be changing fuel filters every 20k and draining every 3-4 fuel fills. I’ve said this before and I’ll likely keep saying it, for someone in powerstroke performance you sure are awful maintenance wise.

The amount of plastic on these new trucks is awful. I was changing plugs on a gasser 3.5L transit and the hold down bolts on the coil have a brass nut that that's pressed into the plastic valve cover. Any corrosion on the bolt (like in my case) will twist the brass plug out making it impossible to unscrew the coil making you do weird shit to get them out. Sort of unrelated, but I do agree to replace what you can with metal especially something you are doing frequently like draining your separator.

@holdensheffield4575 жыл бұрын
7.3 will be less electronics to make work. There are conversion kits out there for both engine swaps. I have a 2000 f350 with the 7.3 and they are good engines. I've heard good things about the 6.7s as well. Really depends on your budget and how much work you want to do and/or how much wiring you're willing to do

@@holdensheffield457 thanks. I've heard about making them "bulletproof" any thoughts?
@holdensheffield4575 жыл бұрын
@@heavymetalweld805 I personally think the 7.3s are pretty bulletproof in stock form. It's the 6.0s that really need bulletproofing. My 7.3 is stock except for a Superchips tow tuner and I've got over 200k miles on it with no major work done. All I've done is change over small things such as fuel filters and crank position sensors. Getting close to time for new injectors but I clean mine by running about 3 quarts of ATF or a bottle of Diesel Kleen in the tank every once in a while. If you keep up with the general maintenance and dont go overkill on the tuners the 7.3 will last you forever. Only thing I've heard people having to replace is the turbo due to seals wearing out

@brian3.25 жыл бұрын
@@itsmeecjay4769 I would be very careful about buying a 2011. I bought one with 112k on it and blew the motor at 130k. The glow plug tip and or the exhaust valve dropped and gernaded the engine. Luckily the previous owner changed the extended warranty to my name. It was due to expire at 132k miles. Ford gave me a long block under warranty. I did research after the fact and it appears that buying a 2011 is hit or miss. Me personally I would never buy a 2011 or 2012. Mine is fixed now so I'm happy but if this happens out of warranty you are looking at a very expensive repair. Ford showed $18k in total costs.

Buy a FASS - problem solved ...
@davidalphin66265 жыл бұрын
I read on a duramax forum of a guy who had one installed, ran fuel additive and kept fresh filters in the fuel system and still had a CP4 grenade. The dealer almost didn't replace the system under warranty since it had the FASS installed (holes in the fuel tank for it). So the dealer had him pay to replace the fuel tank and warranty covered the system replacement. Bottom line is a FASS won't solve the problem and if under warranty you could end up eating a $10K bill for having it installed.

I had a stock 6.0PSD for years with zero issues, I guess everyone that has had issues with theirs is lying? FASS is not a problem solver but certainly will help keep good pressure and clean fuel to the CP4. The LML duramax and 6.7 powerstroke share the same CP4 Bosch fuel pump. You proved my point, "CP4 pumps can grenade for a host of reasons", exactly, a FASS pump will not keep all that metal from entering the fuel system to the injectors.
