Could you stitch the eye hole, before stitching the back of the mask closed? Wouldn’t it be easier around those curved edges?

Check out thrift stores. Goodwill has a curtain section. What he used is a tapestry window curtain or something. Possibly pillow cover.

Did you print it on a4/us letter paper? You're going need to have it printed out at the size he has. I saw one person said they printed out in 4 sections and stuck them together or you're going to have to take it to a printing show. Another option is buying the paper pattern from him

Woven won't have stretch, non-woven/knit will have stretch! In saying so, the woven will be a bit smaller so it fits snug on heads.
