Wow! What a great instructional video. Really like the various types of shallowing videos and how different they are. I’m on the same journey to get my club in the right position. I’m saving this video forever!

Cheers Glen. I play off a 7 and have always had early extension issues. Been working hard on not early extending in various ways (chair drill, alignment stick same angle as address in front of ball, holding spine angle, head still etc), then a friend pointed out that is probably making it harder and I should instead focus on the cause and keep things simple. We worked out I was too steep on transition forcing the early extension. Now I am working on shallowing on transition with these methods and lo and behold it immediately helped my early extension, presumably because I don't need to anymore since the club is already shallow. Love all your videos mate keep it up.

Hi Biasedbeef, thank you for your kind comments. You’re spot on - steep downswing plane and early extension go together like ham and eggs! Glad it’s working for you, keep at it! Glen

Great video Glen. Maybe a future one on stopping the flipping action so as to increase ball compression would be good😁

Thanks for touching base Dave. Would love to present our thoughts on ‘Flipping’. In the meantime, check out:- kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnyXqZ-ajaqgfdE Very difficult to stop flipping the club if you’re Early Extending! Be well

unless i am missing something, even his slow-motion swing at the 2:31 mark shows absolutely NO shallowing of the club. Very odd.
@AussieGolfPros2 жыл бұрын
Hi MJB. You are correct , no shallowing but no steepening either. Check out the drill at 7:15 for slow motion shallowing.

Slow motion playback of your golf swing at the end does not show that you shallow the shaft! A better drill is to move your trail elbow toward the ball and even touching the torso as the hands move down.
@AussieGolfPros3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what video you’re watching there Gerald. I clearly demonstrated shallowing the shaft in transition into the downswing. The trail elbow move towards the golf ball you mentioned is great………………if the player has enough mobility in the shoulder to externally rotate sufficiently to achieve the desired shaft plane.

I don't get this whole "Shallowing of the Shaft" thing. I have watched videos of C. Morikawa, A. Scott, J. Thomas, D. Johsnon and every single one of them brings the club down on damn near the exact same plane as it went back on. If there is any "shallowing" it is minimal at best. Most of these instructors on youtube show such an exaggerated "shallowing" (that they imply is what is happening with pro golfers), that it is so far from the reality of what I see the pros doing. Does anyone else feel the same as me on this subject?

Hi MJB, thank you for your comments. We must disagree though, all the players you mention shallow their club in transition, some more than others. Some players don’t, such as Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson, both major winners, but the majority do. The point is unfortunately, many amateur golfers steepen the shaft in the downswing, which affect power, consistency and ball striking. Consequently, if any player wishes to reverse this ‘steepening’ of the shaft, exaggeration is a great idea, until the movement has became more ingrained.
