Gavin your a genius and fairplay to Sams DIY . Im sure Chloe was glad you didnt throw her into the freezer for this shoot ! stunning results. The candle works great to add that little warmth to emphasis the cold ! Fairplay all involved ! I wish you all a very happy christmas. best regards Pat.

Thanks for the freebie Gavin!! At first I was kinda critical (to myself, of course) of you doing the color toning in-camera because I didn't see why you wouldn't want to adjust the tones in post to be the way you wanted them. But if you're shooting RAW, you can still do that if you wanted to, plus there's something so satisfying and cool about seeing how much you can actually get exactly the way you want in-camera. Great episode!
@GavinHoey2 жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel. You're spot on about the RAW re-editing option but I usually find getting it close in camera helps everyone on set visualise the final effect and that is a HUGE help!

I learned the old fashioned way using a Main, a fill, a hair light and a background light. I don't see many people use a background light anymore. While I love using a Big soft box and a V-Flat or another kind of fill the old way still has it's place. Thank you for restoring my faith in the Old School way :-) Great video Gavin.

Another great and creative video. Thank you. Instead of scraping off the "ice" which has a permanent effect, could you have put the window on a separate layer and used either a brush or mask to do the same thing?

Gavin you're the BEST teacher I've come across! Love this idea. I redid an image from one of your tutorials and it literally turned out just like you taught. I wish I could show you. I may try this one but how in the world did she get her makeup to be frosty like that? Also what are you tethered to on the side? Is it an iPad or tablet? Would love to add that tethering option to my studio but would love your input on what works best. Thanks for the inspiration!
@GavinHoey2 жыл бұрын
Hi Susie. Super happy to hear you got some great results following along, that's exactly why I make these. I can't help with the make-up (that was all down to the amazing Chloe) but the tablet is my Lenovo Miix. It's a Windows 19 powered 2 in 1 laptop/tablet and I run Olympus Capture software to power the tethering.
