Great video! And thank you for sharing the folding bench that you use! I'm curious about how to get my ankles to open up for both kneeling and crisscross positions. I tend to have terrible cramping in my feet when i point them out. I've been experimenting with making new styles of benches to accommodate the lazy postures that I've always been used to. I make a bench that allows sitting in a relaxed and elevated cross legged posture. I've looked online for something to sit comfortably without having pain in my back, knees, or ankles, and most of the benches I see are designed for kneeling. My ankles simply will not allow kneeling, or doing the "tightly woven" crisscross position, and I feel that a standard chair makes it too easy for me to fall asleep or my posture to slump. My designs have definitely become more elaborate over the years. I've even experimented with building a 6" kneeling riser to go under a taller kneeling bench so my feet could hang off of the back and avoid cramping.

The posture where you sit your leg on the chair is amazing discovery. When it comes to back pain, are you referring to physical pain only ? I don't have physical back pain but I feel stress usually in my lower back. Would you suggest the posture where your leg is on the chair and body on the floor for such pains ?

I'd say try it out and see what you notice, the interesting thing about pain is the brain records physical and emotional pain basically the same... so allow your experience to be your guide in this one :).

Hi Doc. Thanks for the vid. I have knee rep and flexibility is an issue. This really helps. Oh, BTW, in the cross leg, the left leg should be the inward leg, ideally touching the perineum. It's an ancient yoga body/energy mechanic. The right should always cross the left. My yogi told me that.

Normal chairs tend to have ur knees at the level of ur hops or higher which doesnt allow a straight posture... that's the answer to you question. Also some culture don't even use chairs they sit on the ground
