We have two Corsos past 5 years totally agree with this type of socialising, people get offended when you say no, but it’s in the dogs interest end of the day
@mrpicklesz94164 жыл бұрын
Whole time I thought socializing meant that they had to meet people and be petted or play with dogs. But you just cleared this for me thank you now I can do more work with my girl !

I love your training method. I have a cane corso too and he’s a year old now and already a guard dog naturally. He loves other dogs and animals and ignores people but if anyone tries to come close to me or him, he will growl and May lunge. I hope to learn a lot from your videos especially the food aggression stuff. One thing I can say is that a cane corso has many personality quirks and you really need to learn your dog.

So is that a bad thing that when people come close to you or him that he’ll growl or lung ?
@Lizbeth-lw1rw4 жыл бұрын
Love your mentality. We shouldn't be embarrassed. I especially need to learn to say no. I have a small fluffy dog that everyone wants to pet and it makes me uncomfortable at times. People tend to approach first, and ask permission last.

If you were a dog trainer I would give you all my money 😂 Thanks for the video. I did exactly the same thing on the day you uploaded it. I was not confident enough to go into the store, so I stayed near the entrance for about 10 mins. And it worked really well! He didn’t bark at anyone! I could see he was stressed and not happy to be there, but I had him under control. On the way home he was pulling on the leash like crazy, but I stayed calm and confident. It was good 💪🏼😇

I have a hard time staying confident when I know he may lunge, cry, or do anything wild on the leash. I really need to work on staying calm consistently. Any tips?
@rafaelah35214 жыл бұрын
@@BIGSISTALKwithBri If I may answer... you just have to really believe in yourself and don’t give a fuck about judgement from others like he said. It’s just a simple phrase but it really helped so much. Hold the leash tighter, don’t give your dog too much space, so you can be confident that he’s not gonna run up to anyone. He should be walking near you anyway! Learn to see the signs before he even gets to barking/ lunging at people/dogs and distract him really fast by showing him a treat. After you walk past the problem (person/dog), reward him and give him the treat. Do this over and over again. Don’t yell at him if he does something wrong. Try to stay calm and avoid this behaviour before he even gets to it. Be patient and confident. I saw improvement only in a few days. If I did, you can too..trust me. That’s my personal opinion and experience ☺️ If somebody has better tips, feel free to correct me!

@@rafaelah3521 Thank you so much for this response!! I love advice from people who are going through the same thing as me. I am definitely trying to make myself more rewarding then all the distractions for sure 😂 and will use this advice to stay more confident. It’s hard sometimes to tell others no or ignore the looks of people when they see his collar, but I definitely need to focus in on the signs before he gets completely gone from being focused and say fuck everyone else to help my baby learn that being calm is more rewarding. I’ll keep you updated! Thanks again!

I was training my Rotweiler puting him in harness and me wearing real US Marines plate carrier. First - because why not. Second is that dog used to know that mission silly puppy morning walk and beeing friendly with humans is a go when i was dressed like normal human beeing. When we gear up then was work time. I trained him in some shutzhund. And last... People who were passing by were less chatty seeing guy in plate carrier and with rottweiler who is having his obiedience routine without any mistake :D

Is it ok to let a few calm people pet my 11 month old Cane Corso? I live alone on my ranch and he does not have visitors here. I worry that he will become too protective if it is always me and him. I am a small woman widow, should I allow a man to approach and pet him? So far he likes people but with Covid, i only get him out 1 time a month
@JelloVibez4 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely let people (men) pet your dog if you desire that. It will help the dog be more social with visitors you might have over. Good job socializing your dog even if it is once a month.

I just got a prong collar for my 6 month old cane corso and it is amazing for his heel and walking. Any suggestions on keeping attention for a duration of time?
@JelloVibez4 жыл бұрын
Attention for a duration of time is achieved over time. Consistency with slow gradual duration is the key. So start with 1 sec attention then after one month of training everyday you should be at 5 seconds attention give or take. So by the time the dog is 18months you'll be able to get the dog to pay attention to you for a good 60 seconds with distractions. Make every training session fun and meaningful esp if your using a prong collar for corrections.

give your dog a command like sit/lay down/look away etc before talking to someone and don't let your dog go between you and the person you talking to keep your dog behind you when approaching someone. also don't tense up be calm and just don't think that your dog is going to do something stupid. your dog eats out off your energy so be calm

I HATE it when people let their little kids just run upto any dog its a real pet peeve of mine. If your child gets bitten because you haven't taught them to ask the owner first if its OK to pet your dog its that dog that will be euthanized and most probably break the owners heart. How would you like a random person running upto you wa ting to touch you whether you want it or not? I'm 42 and an experienced dog owner and I will always ask the owner first to make sure its OK and am totally OK if they say no. There's a reason for it respect it.
@kevinwilcox18354 жыл бұрын
So many people make the mistake of introducing their puppy to every man, woman, child and dog. Rewarding it. What happens when the puppy becomes a dog? It wants to meet every man, woman, child and dog. The dog now thinks "this is how I get a reward". Pretty confusing when it's now being told "No". Hopefully the puppy was brought home for yourself not for entertaining the person or dog down the street. If the puppy leaves its mother (the dam) at around 8 weeks and it's been growing amongst a litter of "brothers" and "sisters" it already knows how to socialize with other dogs. We don't start training a child how to socialize when he/she becomes an adult. What JelloVibez is doing is getting the dog settled in unfamiliar surroundings. Again kudos to JelloVibez...Again one never knows how a person or dog is going to behave toward your own.
