How to solve NOIP DDNS not recieving IP address updates from router / ISP

This fix only works if your pc doesn't go down. I have the no-ip duc installed on my pc, and the pc needs to be on all the time in order for the update client to work. Unfortunately, many times when I'm away from home, the pc resets, or there are power failures, or there is a windows update. All of these things cause the duc to stop updating, which is frustrating....

I don't buy that "solution". I think is not a problem related to my Router, it is a NO-IP company trick to get you installing some of their software in your PC.

and how is this holding up with the recent Eskom Loadshedding? does your NAS power on automatically?

I use a UPS so for the most part the NAS is always online. However the IP address does not change that often, ie in a few hours so even if you loose half a day, the chances are the IP address is fine. However, if the router also goes offline then yes when they both boot, then the router would be given a new IP and the NAS would update NOIP.

what is it that you mean with "special application" if you are referring to the Dynamic Update Client, then this far you will have to run it on a PC/Server which is always on. As for a second router, you will need to configure a second hostname on No-IP.

You have to open port 8245 in your router both ways to the client pc or server you have installed the DDNS updater client..

Soryy, but this video is completly worthless, it doesn't show how to fix the function on the router. The solution presented is to work with DUC on one computer who has to be running all time. So, thumb down.
