I see your point. When I became homeless , Living in my car, I became a better person during that time and I learned to appreciate and not take for granted the things I had, before I became homeless. I also learned that I was more self reliant than I believed, and more confident. I survived many horrible situation,s which could have broken me. I'm no longer homeless. But what doesn't kill you, will make you stronger. The simple things now in life, bring me joy and I feel gratitude. . But sometimes, when I deal with the wrong people(negative), I become the victem again, I once was years ago. But, I don't stay there long. But sometimes it can be hard.

Dr. Paul, I recently listened to your podcast with a lady Minister from the Caribean who pointed out a healthy perspective on when we think we are in the worst situation ever in our personal lives. She has a history of horrific abuse/trauma but overcame it using a few strategies. One of them is that we are not alone and that there are so many millions of others that are so worse off and in severe pain. So our situation may feel like the worst of everyone but it is actually not. Then she pointed out that what kept her going was nurturing the feeling of hope. She found ways to nurture that. She also pointed out that she survived because she told herself that he situation was temporary and believed that things would change. There were a few more perspectives that were helpful. During the pandemic, and now with more varient strains of covid on the lose all over the world, these vids of this topic are a regular "go to" to help with the coping. Thank you so much! 💛 🌈 🇨🇦

I love these videos. The one with the graph about taking responsibility is so helpful. I showed it to my son, who is now completely determined to be in the final section of the graph and is taking so much responsibility - I don't have to nag him, I ask him "is your homework done," and he says "of course" and waves nonchalantly at his books. ❤️ More on how to deal with teenagers please!

Looking for positivity!! I would look at my grandmother for the reminders of how positivity is powerful! (Passed in 1/2018) She was asked on a survey about her overall health: great, good, fair, bad, terrible (I am pretty sure they didn't use those exact words.) She answers Great! My grandfather says...you have diabetes, quadruple bypass, colon cancer....she said okay I'll put fair. Her mind set was always that of positive. It wasn't an illness it was a step in life..and kept moving forward. She was about looking for the enjoyment in all. Learing from all. That is why I have been trying to find my positivity reminders and work on building those skills. I want to be that for myself and family. Working towards goals. Thank you Dr. Paul!

I know even the hard things in life happen for a reason. Jesus teaches us that it is to build our character, and bring us empathy for others, but He also gives us hope for “healing” and also ultimately the hope of “heaven” after earth. Scriptures also teach us to think on the positive aspects! In lighter trials, I find the funny… sometimes it’s sarcastic funny, but funny none-the-less. It helps …lol #whynotme #powerful 🙏 ❤

It's like when Rocky Balboa said to his son about not pointing fingers and blaming others saying that you ain't where you want to be because of him or her or anybody. This all does not work for me! We lost our house to foreclosure, our daughter is special needs (NF1, autistic, development behind, had open heart surgery, 10 months of chemo and lots more), my father with dementia and being guardian, then father passes away, my brother passes away a few days after dads service, my computer sales and service business closed due to lack of business and unable to pay rent. I suffer from anxiety, depression, adult autism, ptsd, sleep apnea and right lung diagram paralyzed. Things will not get better. My child will progressively get worse as I will continue to get worse. Only able to sleep 3 hours of sleep a night as daughter has sleep problems after doctors trying for 5 years. There is no way to see good in this, no matter what you try to think does not change reality. It’s a very sad life.

I have a question - with your twisted ankle story, you conditioned yourself to say "this is perfect"; how do you believe that? Its an event without judgement, but twisting an ankle can have really bad outcomes. Some of my medical conditions had really bad outcomes. How do you believe in an optimistic judgement of an event, when the event causes a lot of other events, that have objectively bad outcomes? (Losing my job after being in a car accident that broke my arms and had me bedridden for a week, then several months of struggling to pay bills and find another job)

Can you explain on how a broken or severed ankle can be “perfect”? Are you just saying “this is perfect” just to lie to yourself ? I would understand saying “I hope this is not so bad as it looks” or “I will recover”. If a broken ankle is considered “perfect” what is an ankle that almost broke but it is OK? Are we trying to convince ourselves for something just for the sake of positivity?
@LiveOnPurposeTV5 жыл бұрын
I truly believe that a positive attitude will lead to faster healing. We can't go back and prevent what happened, i.e. a sprained ankle, but we can be positive in the process of healing and be at peace with ourselves to take on the challenges that will occur with any injury. Hope that helps, cghera.
@cghera5 жыл бұрын
Live On Purpose TV, that is my question. Been positive is one thing (my ankle hurts, I may be seriously injured, but I will recover), and saying what happened (an injury) is perfect is something else. I want to be realistic and not walk in the clouds just for saying I am positive, hoping that this will make me feel better or recover earlier..
@Elleven9445 жыл бұрын
cghera what he’s saying is realistic. If it’s happening “to” you, it’s happening “FOR” you. Everything is perfect planning, and the more positive of a stance you take on it, the more positive you attract to your self. If you stay “realistic” (neutral) then you’ll be calling what’s expected towards you. If that makes sense

Hello Lola Spain, you and your husband need to decide what kind of a relationship you want with his mom and sisters, and then work toward that. Do not respond as they did, it will only fuel the fire.

@@LiveOnPurposeTV by the looks of the situation, he is goingvto let them decide that when he goesvto talk to them. Either they get the idea that they are being immature and apologize, or they explode and shoot themselves on the foot. It's going to be hard for him to have to let them go . But im sure they wont get it. For starters, the sister is a narcissist....

@@LiveOnPurposeTV hi. She would not listen to him unless i was present. First they want me oit of their business and now she wants me there. Obviously she just wanted to have another chance to insult me even more. So we just left things as they are. But now she is out of our lives. 🤷♀️

Meta Cognition? You mean Introspection? its built into some personalities, like the INTJ, which is what I am, most people never think about their thinking, but I do it every second of every day...
@LiveOnPurposeTV4 жыл бұрын
Yes, introspection could be another term, Acutus Lux. I typically associate introspection with an observation of feelings, whereas metacognition is thinking about your thinking, however that is a sufficient synonym. Glad you do that regularly. Thanks for watching Live On Purpose TV.

Miss American Pie, you can offer help, but can't do much more. He has to see that it is an option and want to do it. Perhaps you can talk to someone and he can see that it is helping you.

I have a question With the climate change news our teens get hamnered. We show them that the sh** is going to hit the fan. We as nations have no answer Politics do nothing And most put their head in the sand. We teach our kids old tools and news in school unteaching them Original thought, that might be the solution. Help. How can we support them with such a dire outlook? Thank you thank you

I have enjoyed watching many of your videos and using your advice, but this video has left me conflicted. Your story about the abused boy seems too much like victim blaming. What would you say to a two year old that was raped by their parent, or a baby who was beaten by a uncle? Would you ask that toddler what kind of two year old gets raped by their parent? I understand that positivity is a important tool to change one's life for the better and moving out of the victim role is empowering, but this approach to get their seems wrong.
@LiveOnPurposeTV2 жыл бұрын
Michelle Eilers, absolutely not. There is no excuse for abuse. We can't prevent what happens to us sometimes, but we can choose what we do with it. That may take some time, it isn't that something happens and we immediately are able to forgive and move beyond, that can take some time and the abuse may need to be processed at different times in their lives, but it can happen. One thing we don't ever want to let go of is hope.
