I live in Deep South Texas close to south padre and I’d say we have about the same climate as those in Florida but just no rain in where I live 😅. Our summers are 105 with feels like even hotter with humidity levels just making you not even want to be outside either day or night . I developed this fungus and I’m working my way hopefully to eradicate it from my lawn . This fungus is no joke it destroyed a quadrant of my lawn. The only way it came back was winter came in. My mistake was watering to much to letting it flood every week. Now I just water 30 mins early morning. Still waiting and seeing if the products I purchased will be of any good use

The struggle is real! I’ve had St Augustine since the late 90’s and the fungus didn’t show up much till the last 10 years. I treat it in june and then again by the middle of August. And yes I had it show up in June….And I rotate brands of fungicide. True or not I’ve been told you are only keeping the fungus in check and you never get rid of it plus it can build up an immunity to the fungicide.. Since I started doing this I’ve not had any real problems. I also pay attention to the small signs of it trying to wake up. I keep a small bucket on my mover and toss some on suspected areas.. I’m in South Carolina and when August gets here I water it very little. Left unchecked it creats a mess..

Yea I'm having that pretty good lol i did a bad bad thing watering in evening hasn't rained in about month and half so my fault i just ordered some 3336 f fungicide hopefully that'll clear it up

What about just putting down a fungicide as a preventative, like doing a weed prevention program, will that work overall?

Fungicide does not last long in the soil like pre emergent or some pest prevention!! You can use it as a prevention, but the cost vs. results is not great. If you get fungus in a certain area in a certain time of year every year, that would be the most effective prevention use.

It can. That might be more choloris from root rot and / or lack of iron!!!

You really don't, unfortunately. A dethatcher will destroy St.augustine grass. The best thing is light raking and adding soil to the areas to burry the thatch zone.

No, they will. Usually lower active ingredients. Also harder to know what will work because they are trying to sell you on the bag rather than tell you what you really want to know. These products work better and faster. Also you can get control in 1 application most of the time.
