The rotor was out of alignment because you only used one lugnut. If you notice the high spot on the rotor was exactly opposite of the single nut.

No need for ABS because RACECAR!!!
@joshuawebb33377 жыл бұрын
Alex Kant lol, yes. You can also pulse the brakes the same way. Just let off when the wheels start skidding. I can tell an ABS skid mark over the regular. Sorta a pulsating skid. Pretty much all the skid marks on the highways these days are abs skids. Usually one wheel is a lil stronger than the rest and that's the one that skids. Same as old school. Just has lil breaks in the skid. Like a 2-3' skid a one foot break followed by 2-3' skid etc.... going off the side of the road.
@MyLonewolf257 жыл бұрын
Joshua Webb break ballencer man Tune that lopsided brake out
@joshuawebb33377 жыл бұрын
MyLonewolf25 wasn't talking about me. Everyone else's car skids with one wheel. Or the thousands of abs skids I see seem to be one wheel dominant
@MyLonewolf257 жыл бұрын
Joshua Webb it all really depends on how the braking is balanced Most people don't regularly check and change it Especially after brake service because it can change over time and when you replace pads and rotors Maybe less than a handful of percent But it can still make it worse Also Usually one wheel is unloaded and even the slightest of turn can potentially cause enough to make one wheel skid more than others Not really knocking what you're saying but unless they're in a turn of any kind In a properly tuned and setup system it should be completely even Which will never happen from factory because it a lot of work especially for the rears So they usually just split bias front and rear and front left and right if you're lucky enough to have the fronts have their own bias ontop of that to make up for line distances
@joshuawebb33377 жыл бұрын
MyLonewolf25 don't know any of the technical side of it, just what I see on the Florida highways. 9 outa 10 skids looks like one pulsating tire, maybe a faint trace from the other side. So maybe if they had it balanced right the skid would be much less noticeable? Maybe I'm only seeing the unbalanced skids because they come out much darker? Idk
@jhonkafirk7 жыл бұрын

@ 3:05 Eric, you mounted the rotor on the wrong side. The grooves in the disc are supposed to discharge brakedust to the outside of the rotor. Now what happens is the dust gets pushed to the center (unless you reverse) and there it won't be as simple to get rid of. So you need to swap the left and right rotor :) The markings for R and L are wrong

I wouldn't even bother with getting dust shields for it. A lot of people that do performance builds remove them for better cooling. Unless they have a duct in them for running a brake cooler hose, they will actually hold heat in. Not a big deal on a daily driver but for any performance/track use you are better not having them.

hey Eric I know you use the pumping brake pedal method but do you not ever have concerns about potentially damaging the seals in the master cylinder? I mean pressure bleeders arnt that expensive if you buy a manual one and it can also help finding leaks. why not invest? :)

You got my pants in a wad... cause you seriously thought a rotor mounted with one nut should run straight o.O Little side note: a realy small run out on a rotor is normal, it needs this so the breakpads get pushed of the rotor (there is no return spring for the breakpiston x-D ). But it is about 0,1 mm i think

I have the same calipers/rotor. I can't stand that the caliper/brake pad doesn't cover the entire stopping surface of the rotor. the rotor forms a rust ring. I had to extend the black hub paint farther into the rotor so it wouldn't do that.. but I feel like it should have more gripping surface area
@ricardoverhof7 жыл бұрын
Maybe you allready know maybe not but the little metal "fingers" on the breakpads where you put the little rubbers into are called acoustic wear indicators as soon as the wear limit is reached these fingers will contact the brake discs and will start to squeel of course performance oriented brake pads will usually allways squeel but you will be able to tell the difference between your brake pads squeeling and those wear indicators squeeling P.s. I wish i had a garage like yours looks really nice

Your splash shields are not splash shields. They are a cooling shroud. They help grab the passing air, force it into the inside of the rotor and out through the vents. Very important part of the system.

Hey ETCG, never heard too many good things from lmr. I've ordered things from americanmuscle too but I've found anything from CJ Pony Parts or parts from Steeda to be the best fitting and high quality. I have a 86' Gt hatch t-top and my brakes were slightly different than the 87+ foxbodys so i did a 87+ spindle swap with Lincoln Mark VII 5 lug conversion. Its just a 1 piston caliper though. You could do a sn95 conversion but there is a few fitment issues you come across. If you want big brakes stoptech or Brembo is a great way to go but your talking like $2,500+. I just did the ranger axle swap in the rear with drums but i think this winter (i live in Ohio too) I'll do a disk conversion with a brake bias adjuster and see if i can work with the 1 piston calipers up front.
@isaiahwelch80664 жыл бұрын
Honestly, go with the '95-01 Ranger brakes -- they are dual-piston, and stop really well. I did both a disc conversion on the rear of my '92 Ranger, as well as the brake upgrade for the front brakes. Just a warning, you do need the '95-01 spindles to do the dual-piston calipers.
