He's an example of what a man should be. Wise, patient, and hard-working. It's a shame that we've allowed manhood to defined by the sports and alcohol you like, or the people you're attracted to. Men of old would probably laugh and cry at the current wretched state of men. Honestly though, all of these things are just virtues of any decent human being.

Hi Dad! Thanks for another helpful video. I wanted to try to express one reason why I like your videos so much. One commenter below mentioned how their Dad made them feel stupid for not knowing how to use a can opener. I think part of your appeal is that you don't make us feel stupid. Your tone of voice, eye contact, and mannerisms, are very conversational and completely without judgment. And that commenter spoke the truth that how can we possibly know how to tie a tie, change a tire, use a can opener, etc, without someone modeling or explaining how to do it. So, thanks for showing us some basic things without talking down to us or making us feel as though we should already know how to do them. You rock because you accept us where we are and your only goal is to lift us up. Thank you for that.

@flipmaya
@flipmaya 3 жыл бұрын
@@Amcsae “bean dad” is this relatively well known comedian and podcaster who tweeted about how he (did not) taught his daughter how to use a can opener. His hungry 9 year old daughter came up to him asking for some food, he decided it would be a “teachable moment” told her to open a can of beans herself. She asked him how to use a can opener, and he insisted she figure it out herself and basically ignored his hungry daughter. The poor girl finally figured it out after six hours. The third can opener you showed is actually my favorite kind because when it takes the top off the can, it doesn't leave any sharp edges, so it's much safer! (The only drawback is that when opening cans of tuna, you can't use the lid to help drain the excess liquid.) It might take a little practice to get the hang of it, but the result is worth it!

Wonderful video! One helpful hint. We keep a strong magnet on our fridge. Once the can is open, you need to get the top out. The top has very sharp edges. Also if you tip the can at all, you can spill. So, we use the strong magnet to latch on to the top and pull it out vertically without having to touch the edges!

Hey Dad, it’s very important to WASH that blade off with soap and hot water after use. The circular blade drops into the can and gets stuff on it. Often, the can opener is later returned to its drawer in the kitchen, not to used for a day, or two or three. There are numerous documented incidents of food borne illness transmissions traced to dirty can opener blades. Same goes for the blades on electric can openers. All they need is a little soap on a bush or dish rag, a few wipes and a hot water rinse. Thanks for ALL your videos and caring, intelligent advice.

You can also flip the blade to the other edge to cut the top off. Good stuff dude. Really appreciate your good work!

Great video, and the advice on how to handle the lid was a great idea. Just wanted to say that since most cans are metal, they should be recycled rather than thrown in the trash

I appreciate this. I would usually get shouted at by my parents for not knowing how to do something...even though they had never showed me how to do a particular thing before. Thank you!!

Батя ты молодец) у нас в России я уже в 10 лет открывал консервы простым кухонным ножом) но впечатлила твоя забота о тех кто ,возможно ,полезет в мусор руками и может порезаться.

i felt a bit silly having to search this up. growing up we had a can opener that you placed straight down on top of the can, but the one i have now wasn't working. turns out this one is the sideways kind! thank u!
