This is very comprehensive and concise. Explains all of the important stuff to get started nicely. I haven't touched the node section at all since I find it intimidating, but your video makes me want to reconsider. I also liked that you included the "mistakes" and how to solve them as well. I'd like to add a few more tips for those interested. At 08:06 if you want to keep an open outline instead of closing the lineart, you can select the colour you want to fill your drawing with to close the outline instead. That way, when you fill in the drawing using the paint bucket, the outline still looks open. At 13:53 if you want to loop a section of your layers multiple times without having to manually do it yourself: on the timeline's taskbar, on the right of "1's 2's 3's", there are four arrow icons. The first one brings up a sub-menu that allows you to select how many times you want to loop a selected section of your timeline. It'd automatically copy and paste your selection based on the number of loops you requested. From left to right, those icons means: "loop", "reverse", "swing", "random" Loop is self-explanatory. Reverse pastes a copy of your selection in reverse. Swing both loops and reverses your selection. Think of it like a pendulum, as the icon implies. Random, randomises the timing of your selections. I believe it also randomises the order of your keyframes but I'm too lazy to confirm.

U have put out a lot of content over the years that have been really beneficial to many people. This video is truly outstanding & extremely helpful to someone like myself who at times, may feel a little overwhelmed trying to gain competency or a sense of understanding in order to establish a productive workflow to build from w/ a program like OpenToonz. I am grateful to U for this video & I thank U for all of the valuable content that U have put out on this channel.

Thanks so much for this, Sebastian! I really appreciate it. I'm also animating a story as as well for youtube and utilizing OpenToonz. I would always go back and watch all of your tutorials a bunch of times. Glad to see that you've gotten more confident in your skill as an animator. I wish I could have a slower, more instrustinal way to make backgrounds, midgrounds, and foregrounds. Also more character art as well. Sorry for rambling. I'm making my own animated adult series and I'm doing this by myself. It's a lot of work. especially since I've written and rewritten the script several times over the years. :(

Ah, nvm. _The screen and display panel are seamlessly laminated to avoid parallax errors between the stylus nib and_ _cursor, precisely positioning every single one of your strokes. The anti-glare matte film effectively reduces the_ _screen glare and eye strain for more focused creation._

I’ve been debating if I should switch from blender to opentoonz. Both have similar tools so I’m a bit indecisive.
@NobleFrugal6 ай бұрын
From my viewpoint, I see that a skillset using Blender may have more longevity. Opentoonz is my favorite 2D animation software. But Blender changes the very fabric in which 2d animation is sewn. Now it's just "Animation". Whether 2D or 3D is up to you. I continue to use both all all of my devices because their free! Happy animating.

yo is this pen display good for lineart (professional use case)? i'm also a frame by frame animator and i'm considering buying this to boost my efficiency, but i head bad things about the screen resolution being low for the size so you waste time zooming in and out to fix lines
