Hi! Teachers at OOE.You teachers'deliverance is beyond imagination because the nitty-gritty of the topic is shared in such a way that you share the most technical aspects in the most understandable way........ I'd like to request you teachers that you should cover topics on relative pronouns,like,who,whom,that and which.Another intersting topic is complex subject-verb agreement. And last but not the least,noun clause,adjective clause and adverb clause...... as well as simple,complex and compound and compound-complex sentences..... Thanks & regards......

@Oxfordonlineenglish1
@Oxfordonlineenglish1 2 жыл бұрын
Good question, Tina. A better way to think about it is being a real situation or not. If it was something that was really going to happen, we would say something like: 'When you ask, I will help you.' When we use 'if' and 'would' we are imagining the future, so it is not actually going to happen. Therefore, 'If you asked, I would help you,' is referring to a possibility but not a certainty for the future. Hope this helps you!

Hi, I have a doubt in minute 8:42. "Well, I would come if I was free" The question is: Is it fine to say " if I were free" instead ? Thank you so much for your classes! By by
@Oxfordonlineenglish1
@Oxfordonlineenglish1 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jorge, in this case 'was' is the correct form. When we use '...if I was...' this is something that could actually happen. When we use, '...if I were...' this couldn't actually happen. For example, 'If I were a bird, I would fly to Africa'. Here, you could not actually be a bird, so we use 'were' instead of 'was'. Hope this is useful for you!

Hi, Im Shane from Canada. I understand might, would, will. Its useful lecture. Thank you very much. However, I'm so wondering would be, and might be. You showed an example, it will be hot next week? what if i say it will hot next week? Same way, it might be hot next week? what if it might hot next week? He won't come unless you tell him several weeks beforehand why he won't or might not be come unless you tell him several weeks beforehand? Sorry, i know it might be easy. (wait! might be? im not sure) why be verb following modal verbs

Hi Shane. 'Would be', 'might be' and 'will be' follow the same rules. For example, 'It will be hot next week,' expresses certainty. It 'might be hot' is a possibility for it to be hot. We have a few other lessons which might also help you: www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/would-modal-verbs, www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/modal-verbs-possibility, www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/english-modal-verbs-introduction.

Actually, we used an EQ effect to add treble and reduce the bass on his audio. He just has a very, very deep voice!
