Hi Trad. Best video on how to use these tools I've seen yet. Excellent. Your technique is exactly how I use them (I mean exactly). I fan from the middle (up swoop like Polz and work out from within) and apply soap directly to the applicator. I'm buying some Ettore rubber this weekend, but having real difficulty finding a local supplier (in New Zealand) who sells the Unger plastic end clips. I have to buy online from overseas, and is always a hassle. Been using RazorRed up till now, and was really good, until I hit winter. It leaves streaks in sub-zero (or near to zero) temperatures. So putting aside until the summer. It appears to be the general consensus that Ettore master rubber is the best non-factory rubber for the Liquidator all round. Look forward to using it. Thanks. Hi Thanks for the info just like to add a couple of tips When using the applicator I bring it up flat at the top of the window rather than bringing it across that way I find there’s less water on top of the frame Also when applying soap now on regular cleans I leave the bottom third as you’re applicator goes over that anyway when you’re bringing down Remember every little time saving tip helps over the coarse of a week and can mean extra money

Great vid man - just curious if you still stand by all these liquidator setup tips (green clips ) for the new 2.0 channel ? Also i got my channel without a moerman rubber in it - Curious how many millimetre the moerman pre-cut rubbers protrude past the end of the blue clips on their stock channels please. Thanks
@TradMan
@TradMan 4 жыл бұрын
Hiya! Yeah I still use the green clips, it just helps hold the rubber even better, especially if you go over an area of friction like rubber seals or too much dry glass, it'll keep the rubber from pulling out the channel so that it won't leave an arc or smear.

I've been watching your videos for a few years now and as a young window cleaner you've helped me a lot on equipment, I switched to Moerman when I saw you using it and noticing how it doesn't leave any soap on the sides and it was great but sadly I started to leave lines on the glass even if I changed the rubber multiple times and I just don't understand it at all so I had to go back to unger. Should I be cutting the rubber right to the plastic or leave like 1mm and does it change much if I leave it straight or should I shape it like the channel? (Hope you see this comment)

Peter, good video as always. I'm starting to get the hang of the excelerator & pole but one thing I seem to be having issues with is closing out. The pole makes contact with the sill just before i've completely closed out. It happens on lower windows and usually the panes that don't open; the compartment ones are marginally higher so am OK on them. Any tips? Cheers!
@TradMan
@TradMan 6 жыл бұрын
yoyo895 it is a flaw with the tool which is being sorted as we speak. but to close out you just have to lift the bottom of the pole up quite high then should close out ok

@yoyo895 6 жыл бұрын
Cheers! Sounds interesting......And out of curiosity, how many rubbers do you get through in a week?
@TradMan
@TradMan 6 жыл бұрын
yoyo895 I'm quite particular about squeegee rubber. When it looks like it's getting worn at the ends i flip it or cut it down to the next size so i change rubber quite frequently. So one side of a rubber might last me 1-3 days before i flip it, depends on the type of frames I've been working on though. some guys are not so particular about it and will keep using worn rubber but i think that rubber is cheap and i want to give my customers the best result possible so i change it frequently to avoid getting lines. Hope that helps ;)

Hey man - any chance you can explain the green clips a little - the clips I have got have a small raised oval shape at one end of the ‘flat back’ side - I’m not sure where about’s exactly on the channel you put them in ? Do they run vertical or horizontally? I am using Ettore rubber same as you - when I force them in should they click into position in the channel ? Sorry for so many questions just need a close up look at the end result if that’s possible - feel free to shoot me a pm Also possible is that I got the wrong end clips ? - I ordered these ones : www.wintecs.co.uk/window-cleaning-tools/squeegees-and-rubber/accessories/unger-end-clips-plastic-pack-of-40/

Good evening mr.McKay I don't speak English correctly, that's why I hope you understand me. Could using the Moerman Excelator or Snapper with Liquidator during the summer season be difficult? with Moerman tools it is necessary to use a very consistent detergent solution, but in Summer a higher percentage of soap makes the glass surface evaporate and dry much faster. I am Italian and in summer the temperatures are high. What do you suggest to me? Thank you
@TradMan
@TradMan 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah personally I have the applicator a lot more saturated during hot days, like you said in heat the soap evaporates fast so I still apply soap to the applicator but I don't squeezee excess solution out of the applicator like I would on lower temperature days. Dunk in bucket, apply thin line of soap and straight on to the glass. You can also mop with one hand and with the other squeegee the glass all at the same time, (takes a bit of practice)

It helped to hold the channel grip spring in the handle to shift the channel over to one side, then lean on the handle with my forearm, with the channel over the sink, while pushing with all hell. Then adjust the channel grip spring and shift it over the other side, repeat. That's a little bit trickier than it should be, but man, I LOVE this thing. +Luke Farnham strange, what rubber do you use and is it in good condition? do you apply the detergent to the applicator? All i do is use ettore master rubber, i dip the applicator in clean water then apply dish soap to the applicator and i never get lines. Also make sure the blade of the rubber is not leaning on anything especially over night as this leaves an indent leaving lines. hope that helps

Depends on what rubber you use. Some rubbers are a tight fit, like ettore. Other rubbers are a wee bit loose so need the green clips to help hold the rubber. I use pulex soft just now and I have the green clips in just to help hold that rubber tight and avoid the rubber pulling 😁👍🏻

I usually don't recommend fanning with a pole. Each time you turn the squeegee there is a chance for a streak. He fanned back and forth 10-12 times for such a small window. NOT EFFICIENT! You could come down twice in 1/4 of the time. Just detail the tops with a rag wrapped around the tip of your pole and you're done. Fanning with a pole looks cool but it will take you all day to do a decent sized job. You can't make money working like that. If anyone doesn't know how to come down straight and not leave a streak they're in the wrong business. Always remember that time is money.

Thanks for the videos. Moerman handle is a handy tool, different angles work nicely but if you work at height on ladders like you have to in Chicago and drop one which happens from time to time it is goodnight Irene as they are a cheaper plastic whereas other handles can handle a fall. The channel is just not really worth the effort for crews going through a lot of work in a day as the Moerman rubber is absolute thrash and the time you save on detailing is lost on getting Ettore rubber or whatever you prefer into the channel and then clips in to hold rubber in place, you would have rubber changed and clips in on Ettore channel in way less time and if you know how to clean windows the results are very similar.
