Having a split premier like in seasons 12 and 16 and instead of the bottom two, the top two lipsync is such a good idea. And the rate a queen "twist" only being for the first 3 episodes is also good too.

The most frustrating thing to me about S14 was thinking about all of the queens that could have been cast if they had just committed to a max top 4 and a max 1 double shantay. Some drag queen out there didn’t make it onto the show to make room for a chocolate bar that nobody asked for.

S9 - great season fr S10 - quite forgettable, I remember most queens because of all-stars S11 - outside of what you said, it was a nice season with the right outcome... but the road towards it was iffy S12 - amazing, it's a shame "she" exists S13 - a good start is half the work... well, a bad start... which dragged throughout the entire season. Fashion was great tho S14 - this season took soooo long... love that we got to know them, but damn.

S14 could have been successful if they: - Made Kornbreads leaving episode a non elimination - Did an elimination the final competitive episode (also an issue with S15) - Did top 2 lipsyncs in the first 2 episodes instead of fakeout eliminations - Either never had the chocolate bar, or not done a double save with Jasmine and Jorgeous This would have ended with the same amount of overall episodes, but the pacing of the season would have felt way better.

it’s kinda controversial but i absolutely adore season 14. the pacing is awful, the novelty of the chocolate bar twist is destroyed, and there’s a good amount of riggory, but something about that season is special - to me at least! the cast is just to die for, and it was lovely getting so much time to get know everyone. plus, we got icons like kornbread, willow, kerri,angeria, bosco, and maddy just to name a few. thoooo i will say that the jorgeous favoritism was super annoying like i love her but ru was obsessed 💀

Like it truly came full circle in a way that kind of felt like bullying to me, I genuinely can't believe they brought her back *just* to unnecessarily eliminate her right before the finale. Jk. I think I agree for the most part, and unfortunately MTV seems to be stumbling down a similar path where they just pick their faves and part with a few every now and again. It's truly up to the queens to make a good season and production to set the scene and play moderator. Less like playing with dolls and more like...hosting a DnD campaign? Dungeon Master puts down the rules and let the players create the action and drama, you can't just create an ironclad, unchanging and inflexible scenario and expect people to have fun with that. But that's just me.

Interestingly, Camden is the only person to technically never be eliminated. Daya got eliminated episode 2, Bosco had the chocolate bar, and angie and Willow were both filmed being eliminated at the final five

Really? Lady Camden had the best performance in the finale, so not sure how you got to the conclusion Daya and Bosco had beaten her and she should not be in top 2... heck it was her season to win, and the only reason she didn't was wig issues (like common Willow was almsot not moving during that lipsync...), Willow not being a material for all stars (where Camden is so they can milk it later) and Willow buying Ru some points for first "disabled" winner. Overall s14 was Camden or Angeria season to win, Willow had quite safe run, horrible finale look, and huge fanbase due to darker humour.

-Seasons 11 & 13 were the WORST seasons of Drag Race mainly due to production. Season 10 kinda. You can tell they randomly threw in queens with no chemistry, forced drama, and terrible judging, twists, all over-favoritism. I agree that the twists where they basically crush someone's dream gag were actually terrible to watch as a viewer... -Season 11, reminds me of season 7. You are right, Where the fandom that season was truly peak hateful. -I believe seasons 9 & 12 were the best seasons of the VH1 era. The cast was perfect, with the right amount of drama. Production did not meddle heavily. Good challenges. At least for me, in season 9 I graduated HS, and in Season 12 we were all quarantined so I looked forward to seeing new episodes cause I had so much time lol -I will say MTV is in the same production bubble as VH1. So let's see. Season 15 IMO was all Sasha Colby meet and greet. They really did very little justice to the early out queens on that season. Season 16 is pretty good so far.

She had by far the best performance (with the most production value which was unfair but not the point)...but I don't think she was top 2 because of fan vote at all that's more the case of what happened with Anetra in S15

season 13 was also my first season ever, and i knew nothing about drag or gay culture at all before going in (very controlling parents, etc) so after watching the first episode of nothing but lip syncs of songs i had never heard off, i almost quit drag race as a whole. almost

I did think it was strange that there was a Lipsync For the Crown S9, 10, 11, 12, 13, then at 14 we know Willow can't dance or slay, they have individual performances like S8 so there is no direct comparison. Willow Pill was my winner but I thought it was very strategic they catered the finale to her.

Hey friend, you have great video concepts and it’s been a joy to watch your channel grow. Just wanted to point out, the network that airs Drag Race (Logo, VH1, now MTV) is not the same thing as the production company that actually creates Drag Race (World of Wonder). I think some things in your video were wrongfully attributed to the network when they were probably done by the production company. There is probably a lot to be said for how the network guides or pressures the production company into doing certain things, but we as the audience don’t know anything about that relationship so it’s hard to say.

@@nursegerard well, the art displayed was great, I like the whole thing of Ru's ideology, and all this thing is about fame, being seeing, make moves, art as well, and those queens are there to become public figures and show themselves to the whole entire world. Drag Race has put those girls through real shananigans, but they are actually all actresses there, eventhough some of them insist they don't lol, so if they don't wanna get personal, create a character. Also, they all know drag race gets personal a lot, it's how this whole entertainement industry works really, we are interested not only in the work, but in these peoples lives, it's how being a celebrity works.

I've watched less than a minute of the video so far, but already, I can agree with the decline in quality when the show was on VH1. I've been watching live since season seven, and I can remember an extreme amount of detail from the seasons I went back and watched on streaming services and the ones I watched live while the show was still on Logo. I remember a decent amount from season nine. I barely remember seasons 10 through 13, and I look back on them with absolutely no fondness or interest. I was genuinely bored during the episodes. I'm also uninterested in looking back on season nine, but I'd gladly rewatch any season from before that. Season 14 is an anomaly, because I actually didn't get to watch it live and instead watched it over a couple of days while remodelling my house, making it stick out in my memory more. However, I didn't find it that great; I simply have more of a memory of it because of watching it all in one go. Season 15? I remember it well, I would gladly watch it again, and I paid attention throughout all the episodes. It's the same with season 16. I never realised my disinterest and lack of fondness for certain seasons lined up with its change to VH1. They also barely remember All Stars 4 through 6 and found them thoroughly meh. All Stars 3 is an exception because the return of All Stars are still very new, and All Stars 7 is another exception because it was winners and had a different format. So, even with All Stars seasons, my disinterest lined up with it moving to VH1.

A lot of credit is being given to a network that has the same president as MTV. Networks buy the episodes and give some guidance and some things that want to see, but its up to the producers of the show to create the final product (for the most part). MTV and VH1 (and Logo for that matter) are all under the Viacom umbrella. The show was moved to MTV because they are trying to rebrand MTV from RidiculousnessTV lol. Nothing you've mentioned has to do with the network and much more to do with the challenge producers. Maybe a better title is, "How the VH1 Era almost doomed drag race."

To me, the seasons that rly floundered during the vh1 were 10 11 and 13. 14 has its flaws for sure. From the constant non eliminations and twist that was totally manufactured at the end (and that snatch game 😩, yet it was an entertaining train wreck) But the cast was strong and had flavor. The challenges were great. Good storylines going on and it gave us one of the most unique winners ever. Actually watching the season back on streaming doesn’t feel like a chore (like 11 and especially 13) I actually haven’t even rewatched 13 all the way thru beyond the first couple episodes. 14 is flawed but good.

Season 9 was good for the modern era. But it pales in comparison to season 2,3,4,5,6. I watched these seasons as they were happening in gay bars and they were groundbreaking at the time.
