I love that I bought the harvesting kit. Only thing is if you have larger grow outs it's hard to get their head in the hopper popper. But I got the hang of it, 7 large grow outs done and next week 20 more to do. Thank you souch Bobbie for your time and efforts of showing how to process a rabbit Thank you for sharing. Till next time God Bless.

You’re very welcome. Yes you’re absolutely correct. Breaking the neck on rabbits, older than 12 weeks much more difficult due to the thick neck bone. Roaster rabbits, I would recommend broomstick method w/ 2-hands or even a pellet to the brain. When used under 12 weeks, it’s a night a day difference. This rabbit was 11 weeks old in the video which only required one hand, holding the ears and head in the harvesting tool, and the other hand holding onto the Hocks-This keeps them firmly in place and makes for a quick and easy dislocation. Thanks for commenting!

"And then we go get the next rabbit" is where I stopped after processing my first rabbit. It went really well too, exactly as planned, dispatching was just a lot harder emotionally than I anticipated andbive been avoiding processing more 😅

I empathize with your perspective, which is why I offer insights and advice to support your journey towards contentment and prioritizing your family’s well-being, including advocating for chemical-free meat. When it comes to raising livestock, there’s inevitably a shift from the care you’ve invested in them to their eventual harvest. It’s challenging, especially considering the strong bond we typically have with our pets, and the contrast between small-scale farming and large corporations underscores this disparity.

That's why so many ppl prefer to not thinking about where their meat came from. But for this rabbit meat, it's your own rabbit. So you know it's healthy meat. As long as you feed it organic stuff.. So in the end of the day, ppl need to muster their courage and need to harden themselves. Especially for villagers out there that at least once a week gets their meat thru this process. Slaughtering and butchering their own chicken or rabbit or goat

You can, it will still be tasty, but Rigamortus will set in about an hour after dispatch. So it improves the meat when letting it rest for a couple days, this way it’ll tenderize it.

I am getting some Tamuk rabbits in a couple of weeks. My husband doesn’t think this is worth it. One concern is we have never processed an animal we raised. I want to raise rabbits for meat and maybe to sell a few. I am getting a trio. Any advice as we get started?

rabbits are hands-down, my favorite livestock animal they’re quiet they don’t take a lot of space and they produce five times more meat than a cow when fed the same amount they’re incredibly cute and provide you high-quality fertilizer for your garden plants, hedges trees, etc. unless you research all the chemicals used in the food you buy in the stores it’s easy to take it for granted -people are willing to eat this food out of convenience even though diseases and sickness are on the rise. E. coli, salmonella, listeria just to name a few. Your first processing day is the hardest you have to remind yourself they’re not pets, they’re livestock. Even though you’ve watched them grow and enjoyed every day, You have to have the right mindset remind yourself that’s why they’re here because they were raised to process just like tearing vegetables from the garden. You process your rabbits at the appropriate time. Using KZbin search window: If you type the Rabbitry center_____ followed by the topic you want to research like breeding, feeding, harvesting, processing, cooking, dispatch mindset. We have videos for you. If at any point you can’t find a video covering a topic, Email me bobby@therabbitrycenter.com or simply comment on any video, and I can make a video for you. If you want to learn even more like, how to sell rabbits or turn your hobby into a small business we have more detailed videos in a step by step curriculum bobby-s-school9.teachable.com/p/home

The flanks might be my favorite part of the rabbit. It makes excellent bacon or jerky in the air fryer. It seems a waste to throw it away like that. Great video otherwise. You do knock this out rather quickly.
@TheRabbitryCenter
@TheRabbitryCenter 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. I’m interested, how do you prepare and cook it in the air fryer? I’d like to find a use for it. I wish it was like pork belly. Unfortunately I don’t like the texture at all. After trying it several different ways and even frying it in small pieces It’s still pretty chewy to eat. We make a lot of jerky out of our venison which is delicious but we don’t use deer flank. I’ll have to try turning it into jerky but hoping for a less fatty/chewy
@cashcash8365
@cashcash8365 9 ай бұрын
@@TheRabbitryCenter For the bacon we cut it into strips going long-ways (each flank should give you about 4 strips at about 3/4" wide but you can do wider or thinner) and marinate it in a bag or container with syrup and soy sauce (we have small kids who prefer the sweet and salty mix, but you can add some different spices/flavors for preference) for at least 12 hours prior to cooking. If you have an air fryer with racks, let some of the marinade drip off and place the strips on an oiled rack a little higher than halfway up in the air fryer, turn it to 400 for 7 minutes, then flip and do another 7 minutes. It should have a slight char and the chewiness becomes more crunchy. It's not pork belly bacon and it takes about 4 flanks to feed 4 with eggs and toast, but it is tasty and we enjoy it. We just made jerky out of it for the first time to take on a road trip last week. For the jerky our air fryer also has a dehydration mode and we made a jerky marinade from salt, brown sugar and teriyaki sauce. Teriyaki wasn't my first pick, but we had some in the fridge. We cut the strips a little wider than the bacon since we knew it would shrink some. We cut up I think 4 flanks and got about 16-20 pieces of jerky. I will try to get the marinade recipes from my wife as she makes the marinades and reply with them for you.

@@TheRabbitryCenter I work in the meat industry I can expand anyway you want to, if somebody comes with antibiotics then they need to learn why there is withdraw times for, and any farm not using antibiotics for sick in my opinion don't need to have animals. There is no such thing as growth hormones, well if there is they are illegal in the United States of America. Can't say what is sprayed on fields because that does not make it to the feed not even trace amounts, where as I do not agree with using any chemicals on crops because of the ecosystem is destroys, and if people say chemical on corn and other crops then wild meat is not chemical free either if using that logic. I am a full time pig farmer, work part time in dairy. I agree people should be raising their own meat because a lot of what they buy is not even from the United States anyhow, but it is still chemical free.
