How Will The God of War Series END?

Given its popularity, I doubt the God of War series will end any time soon. But could there already be hints within the last game that show how this end will look like? Especially for humankind?

I want kratos to be a "protector" who WILL kill if it means protecting his realm or the people he cares about, not the god that goes out to kill whoever he can whenever. But I also don't want him to just allow himself and the other gods to just.. disappear, you know what I mean? I love this theory. I think it is a little bit of both. In Valhalla, they said Greece had begun rebuilding, and it is possible now they've already finished and it is a secular world. The Norse world is currently rebuilding as well, seemingly with significantly less intervention from the Gods. What I think is interesting would be Athena's role in all this. Is she the one pulling the strings from the higher plane? Is she steering Kratos in a direction to remove the influence of Gods which would give her complete control over the world of man? I think its possible. I have a feeling that possibly Athena will be the final final boss of God of War. And at some point it will be revealed she was pulling the strings. That's outside of things such as the demiurge btw.

Words can't describe how much love i have for God of war its arguably my favorite story and world out of all the games movies shows anime I've watched and played and thats why im wishing for so many upcoming installments in the next years remakes, prequels ,dlc's,spinoff s especially since the god of war universe has expanded in lore in to omni levels im even hoping for gow ragnarok remake because don't get me wrong it was a masterpiece but i still felt it was rushed especially in the fainal battle of ragnarok but anyways im so grateful for sony santa monica for this amazing franchise they've gave to us and still this franchise has so much potential to continue in the future if done right and even if sony santa monica can't continue with god of war they can still continue with new fantasy story driven action games with insane world building and story like god of war I've heard some where in an article that sony santa monica was rumored to work on a castlevania game so far the only other game that matched god of war in the insane and epic story and world building and atmosphere was fainal fantasy 16 and it didn't come out until recently ago

As for how the future of that universe will look…Who’s to say they don’t steal a page from the 1960s - 80s Marvel comics and have the gods forced to stay away from the affairs of mortals. I think what they should do is: Let Kratos continue in the Norse mythology and create a new game with a new protagonist that will start as someone from another mythology. That person is gonna go the same path young Kratos took and kill his pantheon of gods and determine that all gods are bad, that’s why he is gonna kill them all, from all religions. Loki is going to explore other mythologies (in a game of its own perhaps) and has to defend that pantheon from the god killer. Bla bla bla things happen, sub-storylines happen And at the last game Kratos or Loki have to take down the god killer and something happens to get rid of all gods and leave humanity to itself.

I think the ending of the saga will be similar in general themes to David Jaffe's finale. I mean, what Kratos/Atreus is going to do is one way or another going to cause all the pantheons to fall and people to stop believing in gods or something like that. Or new pantheons await us, with good gods personally appointed by Kratos.

As much as I'd want to, I don't think we'll be getting any more 'pantheon based sagas' after the next Egyptian/any other saga. Bcs it will just end up feeling repetitive. So it will either be that in the next game, due to some reason kratos is driven to a mission, then he realises he needs to free all people from gods, wherein we will go into different pantheon and finish them off in single pantheon specific games. Or(my preferred one) that after the next pantheon saga, the war somehow get's collalesced among multiple pantheons, as per jaffe's view, or prolly in some other way. Bcs otherwise if they continue the "now kratos moves to this pantheon" and spend decades spanning these pantheons, the games will loose their edge imo

Kratos rid greece of all gods and gave hope to all the survivors, so they may rebuild and live together with no gods above them. he sorta did the same thing in norse. i feel like the story of kratos is going to be ridding the world of higher beings who control humanity in a negative way; its quite a rebellious theme lol. and at the end i'd imagine kratos will be the only man left who has the power of a god and every single person other than him is a normal human being and he will protect mankind as a guardian (and as the only god-level being) until he dies, and the world will be left with no gods, just like our world right now.

in my opinion, kratos is gonna first destroy the major pantheons in the "earth" of the gow verse (intentionally or unintentionally) (hes already done with greece, and scandanavia and will likely do 1 or 2 more). and then as stated in the video, hes gonna leave earth, but thats not where he stops. cory has said that theres a whole universe outside earth in the gow verse and that where kratos will be making his next adventures/**cough** butchering entities **cough**. kratos is finally gonna go beyond planet level 😂. jokes aside tho, i agree with kubas theory of kratos entering the higher plane of existence and the future games being about it. but its really hard to even think how many games its gonna take to reach that plot. i miss the greek kratos tho 🥲 (the one who butchered people for just existing)

Me personally Im hoping we have an actual multiple enemy boss fight where kratos is getting 6v1'd and ends killing like half of them and permanently wounding or hindering the rest in an absolute onslaught and then atreus and another character are playable from the rest of the game and atreus must learn to control his spartan rage not for the sake of vengeance but for the sake of peace as kratos' teachings were always for atreus to be better than him.

I still think that after we’ve gone through all the mythologies and pantheons, at the end of it all will be Athena. I’m going off of the Gnosticism theory that she is this Demiurge absorbing all the fallen gods powers. And eventually Kratos will enter the Real of Higher Existence, and have to kill Athena. I think the mask from Ragnarok was also a key to that Realm, we just never saw where it led.

i think that atreus will travel in past when kratos was a general in curiosity to see what was he in the past and will somehow join spartans and die as atreus(having lost his nordic powers) ,whom kratos told a story about. but in present kratos will know and try to save atreus and in doing so against the will of other gods to travel in time(also gods of higher existance) will kill many gods or start a new war .i believe this will be a good story and enjoy a solo kratos journey.

I’d be incredibly disappointed if it ended with gods vanishing or dying. A pet peeve of mine is when fantasy worlds, especially good ones like GoW, turn their world into our own. It’s something I personally cannot stand. I’d much rather the route of Kratos becoming humanities guardian against evil gods.

I kinda want it to end at its peak. Atleast Kratos’ story after all questions pertinent to him are answered. Having seen many shows and games fall from grace after over staying their welcome, companies and teams need to know how and when to close the curtains on a story. It is very rare to have a “Breaking Bad” kind of series where it has seasons that are banger after banger and ending on a high note. And that happened because it had a single genius creator at its helm. And since Santa Monica rotated director duties around to many people, I don’t think it can pull that off. I may be overhyping his genius, but if Cory Barlog was at the helm all the way through, I might have more confidence in the consistency of the story telling. Not to take away from previous directors but Cory is the one who has given us fantastic setups only for the other directors to try and follow up but fall short a bit.

I hope they take a fixation on Christianity, many of the ancient banned scriptures make very epic mythology to utilizes as source material. Especially the dynamic between both Kratos and Yahweh since both of them were Gods of War. Could also see Santa Monica Studios synergizing very well with old biblical scriptures. I could imagine Santa Monica Studios adaptation of the old Scriptures. Yahweh leaving his mother Sophia to start his own pantheon would be quite boring from their perspective. They likely have Yahweh overthrowing his own mother and orchestrate the termination of not just the Gods who served his mother but every God that's ever existed regardless of the pantheons reside in. I could honestly see the stakes being immensely high, I do not know how Sophia treated her son, but Yahweh do not like the idea other Gods exist. If there was ever a War with him, I am sure Other Pantheons would be dragged into it. I could also imagine Jesus and Kratos teaming up to fight the Former God of War and his much weaker yet equally feared brother. But I could imagine Yahweh being a complete menace, the vast amount of Worshippers he has thanks to his brother. When thinking of Santa Monica Studio's possible portrayal of Yahweh, I could honestly imagine a character with an Amalgamation of Kratos and Zeus with the Narcissistic personality disorder turned up to 11. I do believe Yahweh, Jealous, or Yothebell whatever his name would make the perfect antagonist if there were ever a War of the Gods Chapter in the Series. I am speaking about the Norse, Egyptian, and Greek Pantheon teaming up against a foe of immeasurable power they'd been terrified of for eons. Furthermore, I honestly believe Jesus would be the one aspiring hope to Kratos as well as all the pantheons, during that inevitable Hopeless Moment. When I say the Old Scripture hold what could be very good and inspiring mythology, it is very good. It's risky but epic on a Fourth Wall breaking scale. Speaking from an in Universe perspective, but not many of Yahweh's worshippers knows about his favourite Weapons of choice. For Long Range He favours his Bow and Arrow, for Close Range he favours his sword, he used during his days as the God of War. A being like Yahweh is exactly what Kratos could had become if he did relinquished the power he took from the Gods, take Mount Olympus, and Zeus' throne for himself instead. Unlike the Norse Saga, where they had to limit themselves because of Disney, for this Saga they could go insane with the character designs. Especially Characters with heroes like David, Dante, Lucifer, and Jesus as well as epic designs which fits the personality archetype for the major Antagonists such as Satan, Gabriel, and Yahweh.

How Will The God of War Series END? - With an End Credits.

I think that god of war is on the twilight of its journey. The original god of war games ended with kratos destroying the pantheon and returning the power of hope to all who survived. The norse saga built of kratos' grief with his past in a beautiful father/son story. There wasnt some overarching goal in the norse saga, in 2018 its literally just spreading ashes and a father and son trying to bond, thats the main plot, kratos isnt trying to subdue the whole pantheon and make it bow before him, kratos wants to move on from his past. In Ragnarok it was the same sort of thing, kratos didnt want to kill any gods, he was forced into it to protect his family, he still wants to move on, he even says something along the lines of 'no matter what path i take it always leads back to war' point being, kratos is tired, he doesnt want to fight, i believe he will always be there to stop an evil threat but other than that i don't think theres much left in him, Valhalla literally wraps kratos' story up in a bow and ends up with kratos having buried his past and focusing on moving on. We havnt seen the last of kratos im sure, but i dont think there will be much more to see other than him embracing his role as humanities protector and i hope they leave it as that, i hope they dont try to make atreus go off on a whole story spanning 3 games because eveb though i woukd probably enjoy it, there isnt a point in doing so. At least thats my take anyway. I reckon kratos has one story left in him, it will probably be something like 'big egypt god steals atreus, kratos goes ahhhhhhhhh and the rest is history, obviously there would be more to it than that, but i dont think theres much left other than something to do with the higher plains.
