I really wouldn't be too hard on her. As a minority I often felt at a crossroads of wanting to "take it easy" with policing other peoples bigotry and I can totally see letting myself be used as "the POC friend" if I didn't have as much political intuition. For context, I grew up to study politics so I don't consider myself to be a good bellwether for politics but that just supports my point that the average minority is not as receptive to how they might be complicit

Howard Stern has the proverbial "daddy issues" that they push onto women to invalidate their real stories of abuse from the first relationship with a man they had in their lives. Howard discussed how his therapy session was the first time he felt heard by a man. Unfortunately, that informed his career and the cruelty he exhibited in his career. Many men have these same mommy/daddy issues but because society tell them it's not "manly" to express emotions. Some become narcissists. It's all so very sad.

Listening to him say that Mexican people are “primitive” and “like babies” that needed America to help them, gives me the same vibes as the European/American colonizers who justified slavery and the transatlantic slave trade in Africa by saying they were helping/educating the “savages”. I think it's high-level satire. I think Stern is completely anti-racist, and importantly understands that racism is stupid. He's real with people and has enough respect for their intelligence to know that the humor emerges from mocking the stupidity of racism and hypocrisy. It's power diminishes as that mockery becomes the general voice of the public.

This is a very well researched and thorough documentary. Your channel is underrated and you’re so talented at making these. I learned a lot about Howard Stern watching this. I never got into shock jocks and I never thought he was that funny. I did have a female woman of color roommate who explained his appeal to me - she said that he said things out loud that people were thinking and usually too polite to say. I guess I’m a prude because I think there’s a reason people don’t say those things. But it helped me understand why he had an audience. It’s interesting how he’s now changing his tune now that free speech is no longer a leftist issue. Hm.

Women were accused of being too sensitive, having no sense of humour, and being uncool, if we didn't like it, or disagreed. Even trying to stand up against the hateful racism and homophobia, would bring you nothing but ridicule and bullying. We never talked about men with such disrespect, even in private. I first became familiar with Howard Stern in late 1993 when I was fourteen years old. I had free Pay Per View access in my old childhood home in Missoula Montana and when Howard did his "New Year's Rotten Eve" special, I stayed up late for it and watched it without my parents knowing. At the time, I had no clue who John Bobbitt was. After Howard introduced his panel of celebrities to the audience, the final one he had present was John Bobbitt. When realizing he was a man who made headlines for having his pecker cut off by his wife, I wasn't sure what to think. Howard was obviously on John's side and doing everything he could to raise money for him. When I found out later that John was a horrific, womanizing creep who subjected Lorena to the most egregious mistreatment, I then felt sorry for her and realized she was a victim of persistent spousal abuse. The thing that truly disgusted me about John most of all is that he vengefully forced Lorena to have an abortion against her will! Plus he cheated on her all the time with lots of other women during his unfaithful marriage to her. Then for him to temporarily join the disgusting, vile pornography industry later after his penis got reattached, that pretty much takes the cake! He is a filthy, disgustingly perverted, evil excuse for a human being! The fact that Howard supported him over Lorena basically proves what a creep he truly is! How the game was played was where Howard asks random questions to the brothers and if they get the answers wrong, the brothers are required to take off clothing of their sisters. I realized this one young woman who was participating with her brother didn't seem enthused about playing, but I think her brother kind of talked her into going onto the show with her, believing they could win. However, he got most of the questions wrong and his sister seemed humiliated when he was required to pull her pants off in front of Howard and his staff. Howard was laughing like crazy saying "I can't believe it! The pants are coming off!" That girl was so embarrassed that she was covering her private parts with her hands in front of all the men that were standing around her. I was even shocked and appalled! So you are right. Judge people how they improved themselves and evolved, if you must be judgemental. Moreover, It WAS COMEDY. And yes, all people get blanket immunity when it's comedy. If you don't agree, then you don't have a very sophisticated or mature sense of humor and you're a whiner. Mars vs Venus has been comedy for THOUSANDS of YEARS and it will continue to be. I hope people are more forgiving of you when you stumble. The man has given to the world far more than he's taken away, just in his Animal Rescue. Are we all to be judged by our mistakes only? This is cheap character assassination, a narrow minded, Foxnews style rigged story. This hypocrisy regenerates the very sexism we're waiting to die out.

I was FLOOORED to watch the interview with Fiona Apple. He was literally saying dehumanizing sh*t. To Find the truth it comes with discernment and alertness. It's not going to happen by indulging, enabling, and judging every thought. You have to figure out what is your trauma and what is real. Everyone has trauma. It's normalized to not work on those parts of the psyche right now in the mainstream of the world. He built his career, manipulating and packaging his pain as this symbol of truth for others who don't want to think, or analyze where their impulses and desires come from in a healthy way. So many powerful people Do this. You could play a parlor/ drinking game with this, if you aren't bothered by courting social ruin. Eventually people like this hit a dead end when it comes to development of all kinds. If you don't shine a light(awareness) on your personal demons and complexes, they run your whole life.

Even though I dislike Howard Stern I fully support the First Amendment and everyone’s right to free speech. We’re currently in a terrifying free fall toward fascism because of cancel culture. I’m a minority as well as a woman and am not offended by jokes and parodies, regardless of how outrageous, tasteless, sexist, racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, etc they may be because it’s comedy/entertainment. Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy and many others have done HBO shows with similar content and they’re applauded. Those shows aren’t for everyone and that’s fine. Our Founding Fathers gave us the most amazing document of any nation - the Constitution. I urge people to study it and look at what happens to people in countries where those rights are slowly eroded until it’s too late. Social credit scores are coming, people. Wake up before it’s too late. We must defend the Constitutional rights of even those people we don’t like.

I grew up in the DC area and at times was the only/one of the only white people in a given space and the way he talks about it is absolutely bizarre to me. I've always felt more comfortable around diversity because it's what I grew up with, I can't imagine begging my mom to move to somewhere that's 99% white. I feel like he really showed his racism with that rant 😬 And like, Howard, if black people and white people both don't like you... Maybe you're the problem lol. I'm not trying to say that bullying is okay, but it doesn't sound like he's ever been very kind or easy to get along with.

I'm a millennial and I've been fascinated with the Howard Stern show ever since I was a little kid in the 90s and I saw an Animaniacs episode that was spoofing Howard and Robin Quivers, and Yakko, Wakko & Dot drove Howie insane. Now I don't think Howard Stern is for everyone, hence this video and reading some of the comments, its amazing how he rubs folks the other way, so I can see how a lot of people might not find his style of humor entertaining, but I think America needed Howard Stern, I felt his popularity boom in radio from the '80s and onward help drive our culture out of the rigid conservative void that it was in throughout the '80s. For those who really want a better idea of Howard's just watch his autobiography film Private Parts.

I grew up being a huge Howard Stern fan during the mid-1990s through the early 2000s! I thought that he was very articulate, daring, and truthful in his rhetoric. He was also a great interviewer! I appreciated his candor and humor. He was hilarious and brave! I looked forward to watching his show. This dude would leave me laughing out loud! In fucking stitches! He also gave me the bravery to be truthful with others. He was a pioneer. As a proud Haitian-American man, I recall him commenting on Haiti being a shit hole! I was offended. However, I thought to myself that if I could laugh at everyone else, then I shouldn't be offended! Otherwise, I'd be a weak hypocrite! I never agreed with everything that Stern did. However, I believe in and support FREEDOM OF SPEECH in every way as an American! I think that if you're living in this country, yet, you have a problem with that then you should leave this country ASAP! I don't support this woke movement or cancel culture! I believe that most of these people on the extreme left are amongst the most hateful and hypocritical people. They justify their negative ideologies by playing the victim role! It's a shame that Howard Stern has become a weakling today as a result of his being terrified of being canceled by the WOKE cult!

I agree with a lot of what you said. I was a teenager in the 90's and would listen to Stern. I absolutely agree that people should be able to say whatever they want to and if you are offended than don't listen. I get offended by plenty of things and its fairly simple to not listen. While I did find him hilarious at times, i also thought he was a sexual degenerate that mistreated woman and those less fortunate then him. I never liked his show when it was broadcasted on E! Television. Found it to just be a bunch of women being demoralized. What he is now is even worse than what he used to be though. Anyway, i forgot if i had a point put felt like your comment did not get enough likes. Kinda scary when a pro free speech comment does not get agreed with. Howard Stern is a complete douchebag and always has been, but atleast he used to be funny douchebag. Now he is just a weirdo douchebag.

As someone who reads a lot of vintage porn magazines that often have a large focus on freedom of speech, i do think its fair to hold howard stern accountable for the shit hes put out (not even the porn magazines liked him that much). Magazine publications like penthouse do publish feedback and have apologized under that feedback. Honestly the main thing to understand about freedom of speech and the new addition of “cancel culture” is that freedom of speech comes with freedom of to be criticized, and a freedom for people to speak out against things they believe are harmful. Cancel culture just emphasized that accountability cause the content creators are no longer holding themselves accountable until someone forces them to
