The Face ID module includes the infrared camera, the front camera, and dot projector.
The infrared camera and the dot projector are the main parts of the Face ID system and tied to the iPhone 10 motherboard, so after replacing one of these parts, the Face ID function will not work. This is done for security reasons, however, you can replace the front camera.
For example, you take any other original Face ID module from another iPhone X, the Face ID function will not work, but the front camera will work. You can buy a copy of the module Face ID which includes the front camera, I left a link to face id module in the description under the video.
If you need to replace the front camera on the iPhone X in your original module, for example, for some reason, the face recognition function works, but the front camera doesn't work, then you will have to disassemble the Face-ID module case and replace the front camera.
Case of Face ID module welded by laser dot welding and it is rather difficult to open it. If you using pliers, carefully open the case of the Face-ID module in order not to damage the elements inside the module.

I tried plugging just a new front facing camera into the logic board with the original infrared and dot projector still connected and the front facing camera would not function. However when I plug in a replacement front facing, infared and dot projector the front facing works fine. I'm assuming my original assembly is dead but that dosent explain why when i plug a front facing in it kills that too. Strange thing is it looks fine, no tears in the flex cable nothing obviously wrong.

That’s because the front camera is broken although the Dot projector is working it’s because Face ID doesn’t need the front camera instead it shoots allot of small infra red lasers on your face (150,000) which we can’t see and measures the distance of each one to get a 3D image of ur face and save it.

Hi, I’ve got an iPhone X and the back glass is cracked, and from not a long time the phone didn’t work with Face ID (Face ID didn’t work at all) and the dual lenses freeze from time to time or freeze on black, I’ve reset the phone but doesn’t seem to work, could you please tell me the cause of this and parts I need? The problem was most likely caused by the image stabilization sensor in the rear camera being damaged which is utilized by the FaceID system. You cannot repair the FaceID. You can buy the components but they will not work with your original hardware since Apple encrypts the whole system and the device does a hardware check to see if the components are original, if it sees they aren’t it will disable FaceID. Even Apple themselves will not repair FaceID, the only option they give you is to buy a new device unless you still have AppleCare+ coverage then they’ll just give you a replacement at the price of your deductible. I had the same issue and tried to find a cheap solution. Best I could do was buy an iPhone X from eBay with working FaceID but a damaged screen at a discount and then replace the broken screen with the one from my X with the broken FaceID, during the screen replacement I swapped the FaceID components from the broken screen to my good screen and it worked and saved me $300. There is a third party repair available but that will only fix FaceID if the problem is the flex cable. A limited number of shops actually offer this repair and it is quite expensive and not worth it.

I changed my motherboard and front camera to a new phone and Face ID doesn’t work anymore I’m not sure what happened. Two things could’ve happened and that is that I had to get my front camera out with a little bit of force using a spudger to scrape the connections from the as the battery adhesive was stuck but there’s no rips and when I took out the battery it sparked but I plugged it in and it was at the battery level I had it originally. Just came to see if there’s anything else that’s paired to Face ID and the motherboard so I can replace it and get it working again.

@@-n-6969 for now yes. You can repair face id if you’re internals are still okay if they aren’t you better leave your phone for a year maybe 2 and there is 100% gonna come a face id copier that gonna copy your face id and can set it on a new one.

I have an issue. My phone fell into the water I’ve managed to save it. But. The Face ID I think got burned ( the phone does not have it cause the unit if fried I guess. ) but the front camera works. How can I solve this issue ? New Face ID module ? And how to reprogram the new Face ID to the motherboard… so I can use the Face ID again…

@@godson2939 happened to me. you MUST bring it to an official apple store as they’re the only ones who can authorize face id repairs. Most phone stores will not be able to fix your face id module.

I don't know why he took off the entire battery. You can just remove the top side of the battery, since there are actually 2 batteries put together and you can lift up the top side of the battery and remove the camera
