I appreciate the almost table of contents style approach to this video. Too many of these kinds of videos go really high level and only mention like one or two of the options inside the category (as in, this book has 6 new ancestries. Including these two). This gives me a much better idea of what is in the book as a whole, and therefore does a much better job of getting me excited about it.

"Peachchild"... so,, basically, Momotaro. To drive further the concept, the peachchild has a pheasant on his shoulder and the classic warrior outfit Momotaro is always depicted wearing - and the feat shown for him is the ability to befriend and empower the creatures of the land. ...for those who don't know, Momotaro is an ancient japanese fairy tale about an old woodcutter and his wife finding a humongous peach floating in the river - and inside it was a baby. The baby, that they called "Momotaro" ("Taro of the peach" in English) was strong, fast and smart, but most of all he was righteous, and was appalled by the constant incursions of the oni on the mainland, so when he got old enough he decided to go teach them a lesson. His mom gave him a parcel containing a bunch of delicious kibidango (traditional japanese pastry), and as he was going to fight Momotaro decided to share those kibidango with three creatures he met on the road: a pheasant, a monkey and a dog, who for some reason were able (and willing) to talk. Probably local kami. When Momotaro got to the island of the oni, the pheasant kept the guards busy, while the monkey climbed the wall and opened the main gate - and then the foursome beat the stuffing out of the oni, forcing them to swear never to attack the mainland again. So yeah, definitely Momotaro - an entire Momotaro heritage.

Super exciting that folks are getting exposure to other Asian mythologies normally unfamiliar with. Just an example, Sarangay is pronounced "sah-ron-GUY" not "sehr-an-gay".

Two new hybrid studies -- Aloof Firmament (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) and Unfurling Brocade (Uses fabric as a weapon)
@PersephoneApplewhite-uk8ts4 ай бұрын
@@HowItsPlayed Crouching Tiger? And does Unfurling Brocade require certain weapons? How does that work?
@HowItsPlayed4 ай бұрын
@@PersephoneApplewhite-uk8ts Aloof Firmament makes you incredibly mobile while in Arcane Cascade Stance so you can kind of float around like the characters from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. And Unfurling Brocade allows a magus to infuse any piece of fabric no larger than 1 bulk with qi to turn it into a weapon (usually a scarf, sash or ribbon). While in Arcane Cascade they can perform tricks like disarming an opponent and then using the fabric to pull the weapon into their space.

Yes, Aloof Firmament is in the new book. It kind of gives a "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" chambara vibe to Magi.

I know why Peachchild is named as it is, but why is Chrysanthemum named as it is? From what I've heard that Heritage is based on the story of the Bamboo Cutter, and Bamboo shoots don't grow Chrysanthemums, to my knowledge.

I only just got the Pathfinder 2e Remaster books and I never had any 2e. This may be a dumb question, but how compatible is 2e with the remaster? Remaster just removed OGL crap, right? So, 2e books should be compatible with and/or easily converted to the 2e Remaster?
@HowItsPlayed4 ай бұрын
They're very compatible. I would recommend using the Remaster wherever possible, but you can definitely include most spells, monsters and magic items from the Legacy edition without issue.

Is it ever mentioned in the book why Tian elementalism doesn't include Air? Is it acknowledged at all? It feels weird that they keep saying The Five Elements when they just had a huge book about elementalism where Air was included. I know this is more spiritual rather than magical, but still.
@conorb.19014 ай бұрын
My guess is probably that it's to line up with the classic elements from Asia (or at the very least China), being fire, water, earth, metal, and wood. From what I gather, air was considered a subset of wood, so I guess the wind is the trees sneezing?
