I love how supportive and calming you are when offering advice on bake fails. I grew up around perfectionists who picked apart every little mistake others made to the point where they quit cooking or baking or sewing. Perfectionists do not make good teachers. Hmm. If we say "*Most* perfectionists don't make good teachers." then I agree =) I've had horrible experiences, but I've also had really good ones. If the person knows to NOT nitpick everything and NOT demand perfection from a beginner - then they can be teachers, and sometimes really good ones. But it also depends on what the "student" is after/how they learn. Some people like constructive criticism, some like to only hear what they did well, some like to just be told the brutal truth - and every degree in between. Perfectionists can be supportive and calming - and non-perfectionists can be horrible teachers ;)
@giovannirafael53513 жыл бұрын
@@shadowheartart3898 I don't think anyone wants to be told "the brutal truth" unless you're already very good at something or you are a perfectionist as well. So I'd say perfectionists can make good teachers but usually they're not at all. Honestly perfectionists are not usually even good people to have around you a lot, because they can be really toxic.

I call it the "Repairman Effect." Equipment that has been malfunctioning all day suddenly starts working when the repair tech arrives. Literally as soon as they leave, it goes back to having the same exact problem. I knew someone who had a machine do this twice in a row. The second time, he was leaving but still in the driveway when it went back to acting up, so he finally was able to fix it.

@@blazertundra This happened with my shower recently. Every time I turned it on it was cold, then warmed up to burning hot and wouldn't go to a comfortable temperature. I disagree (source: my own kitchen tools). In some situations the tools might be part of the problem but it usually comes down to how much experience you have in the kitchen. Loved the challenge idea for Ann tho!
@HillaryDawn1Jn4183 жыл бұрын
I disagree that using a box mix will make it more likely to fail; they are literally designed by food scientists to be easy for people who aren’t bakers and to come out the same every time. Most baking fails I see online are due to a procedure issue or forgetting/ not doing something. Commonly; frosting a cake when it’s still hot which makes the frosting melt off, not using no stick spray or baking powder, not using proper supports, or sometimes just not having the skill set yet to do complex piping of decorations. And other times they are just environmental, like last summer I tried to make no bake cookies and I live in the south of the US they never properly set because of humidity.

I laughed out loud when the bundt cake came out perfectly. Ann has the magic touch even when she doesn’t want it 😂

Ann is a miracle worker! Until I found this channel I had no idea how many creative ways there were to fix cakes that seem ruined beyond repair. Thankfully I haven't needed to use one yet, but these are great tricks for any baker to have up their sleeve. And it's so satisfying to see the beautiful end result!

It's been a while since I had a cake fail as I am a bit of nerd and do a lot of reading before trying new things, but this series make me feel better about trying new recipes or new molds or new styles because I know if I fail dramatically I can come here and see great inspiring ideas on how to fix it :)

love love love that bundt cake idea!! Usually cake fails in previous videos are very elaborate creations... like bday, wedding or multi tiered cakes. It was great seeing a simple everyday cake like the humble bundt being rescued!! More likely to happen to me anyway XD please maybe more similar ones in the future too?? Brownie rescue, cheesecake or apple pie?

I may rebuy a hard copy. I bought the kindle version because I was moving and had no idea where I would be when it came out.

It’s 4:30 in the morning, should be sleeping but totally worth it for a new episode! 🤣 I feel like mine would be destined to look like the fail regardless.

Don't worry, you can do it. Start simple and practice practice practice. You will fail a few times along the way but you will learn, get creative and improve along the way ^^

Thanks - I’m just making a vanilla sponge so it won’t be too hard. I really hope I can ice it well because I’m not that good at piping onto cakes.

I used one of your ideas (the motorbike on the hill rescue) to help save my friends birthday cake. We went with a dinosaur theme, crumbling up the broken bits of cake to use as a sandy terrain, putting icing down the centre as a stream and a dinosaur on the top as a decoration. It was last minute fix but she loved it 🥰

I once made a christmas reindeer cake and literally everything went wrong. I was piping a border and my piping bag just expoded green cream everywhere. I made it through and i applied eyes and a nose to it and the edges just slowly smeared down made it look like it was crying :( everyone loved the cake but I was crying like 3 times during this process.

I made a crabfish cake with some friends, and it not only got destroyed but we tried to save it with a lot of icing, which was really runny xD It was okay though, because we were all having fun together
