Just saw hozier in concert last night... he is the sweetest man. He thanked everyone who did the lighting and staging and sound and everything individually by name, as well as the people he was on tour with and the local artist he had open for him. then he thanked us for watching. It was so heartfelt and sweet. He is surprisingly soft-spoken when he's not rocking out; he's really the sweetest man.

I cannot say enough good things about this guy!! His voice is unique and soo special, his covers are better than the originals, but his own music will become iconic I am sure. He is FANTASTIC in concert (saw him recently in NYC) and going to see him again in Nashville next year! He is THAT GOOD!! Also wanna say I had the pleasure of meeting him and he couldn't have been friendlier or nicer!! MUCH LOVE FOR THE TRULY TALENTED HOZIER!!!

I wouldn't say it's better than the original, he has a voice that is unique though. He did also make the song his own. So I love it none the less.

Quite possibly the best rendition of a song I’ve ever heard. Draws in so much emotion and positive electrons to make you feel good!!!!

No, pretty good cover (I only just found out this Hozier chap) but you clearly haven't heard Jeff Buckley's.

E Kennedy No way, I like there's but obviously not close to the original never mind Vans
@MsLauralei379 жыл бұрын
Listened to both versions... I don't think either can beat this version. Though my first love is Van's version.
@loovetrain9 жыл бұрын
E Kennedy the waterboys are obviously talented, but they changed the entire essence of the song! theirs was a totally new take, whereas hozier and jeff buckley's versions were definite tributes to van morrison

Such a hard song to cover, it's done so well by Van Morrison. The original is so good. Balls on him to even try. That said, well done. I love it. Every good cover should bring something new to the song, some new take that continues the life of the song without taking away from it. This was achieved. Not only was it respectful to the original, it also added to the limits of the song in a way that stayed true to the concept... That's such a fine line. Well done!

I’ve played my fingers bloody recreating this cover myself over and over again. I’ve never had a song mean more to me than this; family, friends, and lovers, all are moved when I play this version of this incredible song. I’m not a singer by any means but when I play this song I need to sing it and I belt it out. This is the only song I’ve ever sung while playing and it will probably remain that way.

I grew up with Van Morrison, but good god this man can elevate any song to something completely different and magnificent with that voice of his and the expression he uses.
