I have been a devotee of Arnold and his training philosophy. Now that I've got that out of the way, I believe his best showings were '72,'74, and '75. In 1980, he looked like a shadow of himself. He was in Hollywood shape, but not competition shape. He wasn't ready. He allegedly trained for eight weeks for the contest. This is after a five year retirement. Eight weeks? I don't think so. He pulled out all the stops, the judges were also good friends of Arnold. I don't recall if he had a had in promotion as well. Let's face it, Mentzer was the best physique that day, not Arnold.

Noticed the 2018 Arnold classic too, the favorite was given hundreds of a second off to drop the stone. Compared to other competitors which waited about 2 seconds to hold

ARNOLD - YOU SHOULD BRAG ABOUT YOUR CYCLES - YOU GIVE THIS SPEECH ON HOW TO BUILD THE BODY BUT YOU ARE NOT BEING 100% HONEST - KEEP THAT SAME ENERGY AND TELL US YOUR CYCLES - NAME OF THE ROIDS, HOW MUCH DID YOU TAKE - CCS AND WHAT KIND OF DRUGS - I JUST LOST RESPECT FOR YOU

I’ve heard it said that Arnold got a perfect score proposes he didn’t even perform. That would be like a figure skater jumping on a pommel horse when it’s their turn to perform and spinning around on the pommel horse and then getting a perfect score for figure skating. It’s preposterous. It’s not a question of the other competitors being sore losers it’s just a matter of complete and utter corruption. Disgusting really

Mike was way better than Arnold and that was the biased and corrupted contest in history. Arnold didn't deserved the win

If Arnold only trained 6weeks if he had 6months then he would have been victorious on all accounts. I’m not sided him just stating that he did look pretty dame good for hat short time but Mike looked in peak shape.

It was hard for a lot of people to see arnold come back after 5 years and win, but it took a while to sink in, and he was definitely the winner! Just think about it for a second. Frank Zane won 3 years in a row up to 1980!!!! Frank Zane vrs arnold swarsnegger 1980 thank you very much! It's that simple!!! Lol

Mike should've just forget the pass and share the glory of victory from helping Dorian Yates achieve mass monster that year when he won his first Mr Olympia. That hate and burden he carried plus his prescription killed him

So are most of the best athletes in the world in every sport. Michael jordan wasn't particularly the nicest guy. Worked out great for him.

That's bodybuilding and he is more saleable and chest, arms training doesn't need to look painfully harder than what it seems, when Arnold training applied

I'll always remember schwarzenegger as being a 6 times olympia winner, which is no small feat. A childhood hero of mine that I will never look at the same way again. I Have much respect for Mike Mentzer and am saddened I will never get the chance to meet my real hero.
